Call for Arts Advocacy Arts Matter Day is October 24. Arts matter in Massachusetts and should matter in our state elections. Now help MASSCreative prove it. Short Fiction Glimmer Train Press is currently accepting entries for their Very Short Fiction Award. A prize of $1,500, publication in Glimmer Train Stories, and 20 copies of the prize issue is given quarterly for a very short story. Learn more.

Exhibition Proposals The Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester seeks exhibition proposals for their 2015/16 season. A number of four-week exhibition slots are available for either year. Exhibition and curatorial opportunities are open to RNAC members and non-members. Solo shows and group exhibitions accepted. The space is suited for two-dimensional work and small sculpture; interested artists should be familiar with the space before submitting a proposal. Learn more. For guidelines, contact art@rockyneckartcolony.org

Call for Boston-Area Artists Under 30 The Arsenal Center for the Arts is seeking the work of artists from the Greater Boston area under the age of 30 years old. The 30 Under 30 Exhibition is designed to display and encourage the dialogue of 30 young artists in the Boston area. Learn more.

Massachusetts Artists Assets for Artists has announced its fall 2014 program cycle for artists living or operating their creative business anywhere in Massachusetts. Eligible applicants include artists in all disciplines whose practice would benefit from the opportunity to receive working capital funds and improve their financial and business management skills to make valuable investments aimed at growing their creative enterprises. (Income and household asset guidelines also apply.) Learn more.

Exhibition Proposals The Chazan Gallery in Providence, RI, is currently accepting exhibition proposals for solo and group shows for their 2015-2017 seasons. Learn more.
Deadline: December 1, 2014

Northeast-based Playwrights All Northeast-based playwrights are invited to submit to The Provincetown Theater’s Winter Readings Series of original work. Plays may be collections of short plays, one-acts, or full length plays no longer than 90 minutes. Playwrights must be involved in the production of the reading. Plays may not have been previously staged. Learn more.

Artist Residency Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, an international craft school in Deer Isle, Maine, offers a two-week residency program and intensive studio-based workshops in a variety of craft media including clay, glass, metals, paper, blacksmithing, weaving, woodworking and more. All of the studios will be staffed by technicians who can assist with projects, and residents can move between studios as needed. Learn more. Applications will not be accepted until January 1, 2015.
