Mass Cultural Council believes that individual artists are the foundation for our vibrant cultural community. We support artists across a range of disciplines and cultural traditions, through a variety of grants and services.
MASS CULTURAL COUNCIL FUNDING FOR ARTISTS
We encourage artists to investigate all of our programs, but the following represent the grants we believe most directly benefit individual artists.
Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Individuals: unrestricted, $5,000 grants to Massachusetts individual artists, teaching artists/humanists/scientists, and independent cultural workers to support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and set a path for growth
Artist Fellowships: direct, anonymously-judged grants to individual artists in Choreography, Crafts, Dramatic Writing, Drawing & Printmaking, Fiction/Creative Nonfiction, Film & Video, Music Composition, Painting, Photography, Poetry, Sculpture/Installation/New Genres, and Traditional Arts
Traditional Arts Apprenticeships: grants for one-on-one apprenticeships in the traditional arts
Local Cultural Council Program: project grants to artists and groups for the benefit of local communities
STARS Residencies: grants to schools to fund residencies by artists, scientists, and scholars
Mass Cultural Council Partner Organizations:
New England Foundation for the Arts: supporting artists with initiatives including New England States Touring (NEST), grants to organizations to hire artists from other New England states
Mass Humanities: funding for public projects in the humanities
