Mass Creative Organizing Huddle: NEA Grant Cancellations & Federal FY26 Budget, 12:00PM-1:00PM, Zoom. On Friday, May 2, the National Endowment for the Arts sent notices to existing grantees that their grants had been terminated. Join Mass Creative on Friday May 9th for their third in a series of virtual organizing huddles. They will cover what happened, hold space for information exchange, and actions you can take. Grants Celebration: Creative Individuals – Mass Cultural Council Join Mass Cultural Council, members of our Governing Council, and cultural sector partners at the Great Hall of the Massachusetts State House on May 19th at 1pm to celebrate our Grants for Creative Individuals, supporting creative workers all across the state.  Learn more and register.

New: Arts Action Consortium The Arts Action Consortium (AAC) is a dynamic new initiative comprised of six Boston-based cultural organizations with a mission to strengthen and sustain Boston’s creative workforce. In collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture of the City of Boston, this two-year program provides artists with essential resources, including professional development, technical assistance, and career support. Call For Arts And Crafts Vendors  Sell your arts and crafts at the Arts Bazaar at the Cambridge Arts River Festival on Saturday, June 21, 2025, on Memorial Drive along the Charles River. Reach thousands of festival-goers. The Arts Bazaar is a curated marketplace for a wide range of items both domestically made and imported from around the world that are representative of the many ethnic and cultural backgrounds found in Cambridge. We accept vendors who sell unique, high quality, one-of-a-kind, original and/or handmade works. National Arts Survey How Are Policy Changes Impacting the Arts? Americans for the Arts is launching a new National Pulse Survey to better understand how recent policy developments—at the federal and state levels—are affecting the health of the arts and culture sector. Poetry Prize Entries are currently being accepted for the American Poetry Review’s Stanley Kunitz Memorial prize. A prize of $1,000 and publication in American Poetry Review is given annually for a single poem by a poet under the age of 40. Cash Prize: $1,000. Learn more.

How would you transform vacant space in Downtown Boston? The City of Boston is looking for ideas to transform vacant spaces in Downtown Boston into vibrant hubs for creative enterprises. Creatives, entrepreneurs, and cultural space operators are invited to submit proposals that will help revitalize the neighborhood, support economic growth, and create dynamic community spaces. Artist Residency Applications are currently being accepted for the Dorland Mountain Arts, late summer/fall 2025 residencies in Temecula, CA. Dorland Mountain Arts is a beautiful retreat where artists, writers, musicians, and composers can create in a secluded and protected natural setting. Dorland is located near Temecula Valley Wine Country, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles and sixty miles north of San Diego. Learn more.

Call to Artists Larkin Gallery in Harwich Port on Cape Cod invites artists to participate in our open call juried exhibit, Finding a Way. Selections will be based on artistic and creative quality, interpretation of the theme and space allotment. There is no fee to enter. Telling a story, understanding our own narratives, solving problems, seeking answers and solutions are all part of creating art. It’s not just the end point that is important, but quite frequently it’s the “way” that is most compelling and where the richness lies. Call for Artists Hampden Gallery is accepting applications from artists residing within fifty miles of UMass Amherst to submit original artwork for the gallery’s inaugural triennial exhibition, Reflecting on the Past/Dreaming the Future. The exhibition, running Sept. 3 through Dec. 3, will be juried by Nick Capasso, who has a longstanding commitment to New England contemporary artists. Artist Residency Applications are  currently being accepted for the Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) offshore artist residency. The NISDA Artist Community welcomes emerging and professional artists and educators in all fields including, but not limited to, photography, painting, ceramics, textiles, writing, music, performance and any interdisciplinary projects committed to the creative process. Call to Artists MVCulture, a grant project with MeVa, ECCF, and Merrimack Valley Planning seeks commissions to enhance bus stops, improve wayfinding, and connect residents with the region’s rich arts and cultural hubs—making the public transit experience more welcoming, vibrant, and accessible for all. We are looking for local visual artists (2D or 3D) who would be interested in working with us on a creative placemaking project over the course of the next year. We are still in the early stages, so at this time we are simply asking artists to complete an Expression of Interest via a brief Google Form:

Early Career Visual Arts Award The Early Career Visual Arts award offers $1,000 towards the completion of a specific project in painting, drawing, sculpture, or mixed-media. Active early career Jewish visual artists between the ages of 25 and 35 may apply. Learn more.

Studio Workspace Residency The Studio Workspace Residency at the Women’s Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY, is an opportunity for artists to create new work and fully immerse themselves in the Women’s Studio Workshop’s supportive environment. We invite applications from artists at any stage of their careers. Artists may choose to work in any one or more studios: intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, darkroom photography, or ceramics. Learn more.
