Lowbrow at Gallery X, New Bedford, MA

Call for Art Gallery X in New Bedford will be accepting work for an exhibition called Lowbrow. Lowbrow as defined by Gallery X is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, and hot-rod street culture. Most lowbrow artworks are paintings, but there are also toys, digital art, and sculpture. Curators of Lowbrow are Pat Gomes and Victor Da Silva. Learn more. Questions: patg73@hotmail.com.

Performance and Art Works Mobius is currently seeking submissions and proposals for a performance and art event that explores the themes of mortality, mourning, remembrance, and memory. This event will take place at the Mobius Alternative Arts Space in Cambridge, MA October 20-24, 2011. Learn more.

Printmakers Bradbury Gallery at Arkansas State University is now accepting entries for the 2012 Delta National Small Prints Exhibition. The juror is Roberta Waddell, Curator of Prints Emerita, The New York Public Library. Exhibition Dates: January 19 – February 17, 2012. Learn more.

Filmmakers/Screenwriters/Directors In an effort to promote more diverse voices, the Tribeca All Access (TAA) program will award a total of $140,000 in grants to support projects that have at least one US-based director or screenwriter attached who self-identifies with a traditionally under-represented group in the film industry. In addition to a grant, each new participant will receive a mentor and be invited to attend several workshops, panels, and one-on-one industry meetings during the Tribeca Film Festival. Read more. Photography The Print Center is now accepting entries for their 86th Annual International Competition. Selected artists will be featured in an online exhibition, June 2012 – March 2013. Three artists will be chosen to mount solo exhibitions at The Print Center, which will take place January – March, 2013. This year’s juror is Jennifer Blessing, Curator of Photography, Solomon R. Public Artists The City of Pittsfield and the Artscape Public Art Committee invite artists to send in proposals for the annual yearlong Artscape public art exhibition in Pittsfield, MA. The 2012 exhibit will be held in conjunction with a citywide celebration of the author Herman Melville and his masterpiece Moby Dick (written in Pittsfield) through contemporary arts.
