Of Note MASSCreative is welcoming leaders from the Massachusetts Health Connector to present on open enrollment, for its December Policy & Action Webinar. The Massachusetts Health Connector is the state’s health and dental insurance marketplace, offering a platform for individuals, families, and small businesses to compare and purchase insurance plans from leading health and dental carriers. Open enrollment is available now through January 23rd. Register for the December Webinar to learn more about open enrollment and get your questions answered Friday, December 8, 2023, 9:30 AM.

Call for Art Entries are currently being accepted for the exhibition Intercession. Curated by New Art Center Education Director Reggie Woolery, this exhibition features photographers of the African diaspora who employ light to bridge, call attention, and to disrupt. The works actively engage new ways of seeing, believing and moving in the world. Eligibility: Must self-identify as an African American, live in the greater Boston area, and the artwork medium must be photography. Learn more.

Call to Artists Design Mosaic-Murals For Cambridge Fire Department Headquarters And Tobin Montessori/Vassal Lane Upper Schools Complex. Pay: Approximately $40,000 per artist; Four artists to be selected. Learn more.

Muralist Parade Art is commissioning two exterior murals for a new residential development in Everett, MA. The goal of the mural commissions is to activate the new building through public art, providing a distinctive visual identity, while supporting, welcoming and uplifting the local creative community. Mural 1 is 1850 sq ft with a maximum budget of $50,000. Mural 2 is 850 sq ft with a maximum budget of $25,000. There will be a paid design phase. Learn more.

Poets Entries are now being accepted for the Poetry Society of America Awards. The Poetry Society of America has a variety of awards, ranging from $250 to $2,500, for poetry and manuscripts. Learn more.

Ten Minute Plays The fifteenth King’s Shorts Festival of Ten Minute Plays, All for Scripts, will be hosted by King’s Theatre in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 21, 22 and 23, 2024. Entries for the Festival may be sent either by mail or online. Learn more.

Connecting Military Communities Through the Arts Applications are now available for the Creative Forces Community Engagement grant program. Grants support community-based arts engagement programming for military and veteran populations—including family members and caregivers. Through the experience of art or art-making, participants can express themselves creatively while building resilience, social connectedness, and gain support for successful adaptation to civilian life. Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs that seeks to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for military and veteran populations exposed to trauma, as well as their families and caregivers. Grants for Individuals The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation is currently accepting applications for their 2024 Individual Support Grants. This program recognizes and supports serious, fully committed visual artists who have been creating mature art for at least 20 years and who are in current financial need. Learn more.

Portrait Competition Entries are now being accepted for the National Portrait Gallery Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition. Select works will be featured in a major exhibition in 2025. The first prize winner will receive $25,000 and a commission to portray a remarkable living American for the museum’s collection. Learn more.
Deadline: January 26, 2024

Call to Artists The Umbrella Arts is currently accepting entries for the exhibition, Earthworks; Tradition, Influence, Innovation, a regional show celebrating the depth of history, tradition, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics, and the ways in which artists continue to expand the field through innovation and reinterpretation. As part of The Umbrella Arts Center’s continued commitment to the ceramic medium, we intend for this show to highlight emerging and established artists working in clay. This show will invite artists currently residing in New England, honoring the skill, knowledge, and diversity of our regional ceramics community. Work both functional and sculptural is encouraged for submission. Prizes will be awarded. Best in show: $1,000. Juror’s choice: 5 awards at $100 each. Juror: Ayumi Horie.
