Call to Artists Originally inspired by the En Plein Air door installation on NYC’s High Line, Go Out Doors – Medford expands on a summer 2020 installation celebrating the opening of The West Concord section of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. Ten door designs will be selected by the Medford Arts Council no later than June 18, 2021. Artists whose designs are selected will each receive a stipend of $500 per door and will be widely promoted in regional arts, tourism, and news media. Learn more.

Musicians The Emerald Necklace Conservancy seeks musicians to perform during Summer on the Emerald Necklace, a series of events in Boston and Brookline parks in July and August. Summer on the Emerald Necklace is a series of concerts, fitness classes, movie nights, tours and other events in the parks, now in its 14th year. They are planning a concert series featuring small acoustic or lightly amplified performances on weeknights in July and August in four Emerald Necklace locations. The goal of these concerts is to ease back in to in-person events while having the small concerts attract a smaller but engaged audience. Learn more.

Sculptors Boston Sculptors Galley is accepting applications for Associate Artists. Associate Artists are granted an annual group show with other Associate Artists (approximately 12-15 artists), in their 2,000 square foot gallery space. This is an 18-month fellowship program that supports filmmakers in the US from racially and ethnically underrepresented communities working on their first or second feature-length documentary film. Firelight Media provides filmmakers with customized mentorship from prominent leaders in the documentary world, as well as funding, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities. Cambridge Artists, Writers Orbis Editions is accepting proposals from Cambridge-based artists and writers for the Cantabrigia Award to make publications in 2021. The inaugural Cantabrigia Award will provide two writers or artists the resources to publish and distribute their work with a $1,000 stipend, resources like in-house editing, design, and printing, geared towards the production of a publication. Artist In Residence Columbia Law School invites an artist to create at least one work that will be displayed at the school, as part of their artist-in-residency program. The selected artist will receive a grant of $15,000 and an allowance of up to $5,000 for art materials. Preference will be given to those who are in the early to middle stages of their careers. Massachusetts Stories The Expand Massachusetts Stories initiative from Mass Humanities offers up to $20,000 for projects that collect, interpret and/or share narratives about the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with an emphasis on the voices and experiences that have gone unrecognized, or have been excluded from public conversation. Visual Artists The Artist’s Resource Trust (A.R.T.) Fund, a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, provides grants to support the creative work of mid-career visual artists. Grants are available in painting, sculpture, printmaking or mixed media to artists with financial need in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, as well as Columbia and northeast Dutchess counties in New York. Nonprofit organizations wishing to show, commission or purchase work by mature artists living in New England may also apply. Grants range up to $10,000. Learn more.

Call to Artists Gallery 263 invites artists to submit work for “Objectivity” that engages and subverts the still life genre, breathing new life into an old (time-tested) tradition. Objectivity is juried by Josephine Halvorson. Open to residents of New England or those who have lived in New England within the last five years. Any 2D, 3D, and time-based work will be considered.
