Mass Cultural Council Survey This grant cycle (Fiscal Year 2023), we are reevaluating our funding opportunities for artists and creatives. The work will culminate in the development of a new grant program for artists and creative individuals. The goal is to launch this new program sometime during next fiscal year (FY24), which begins on July 1, 2023. In the meantime, please share your perspective by completing this brief survey. Call for Photographers New England artists working in photographic mediums are invited to submit 1-3 pieces of 2D or 3D work to the 44th Annual Jack Parfitt Open Juried Photography Exhibition. This year’s theme is Thinking of Home: Memory and the Domestic. The juror for this exhibition is Alisa Swindell, Associate Curator of Photography at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College. Submissions are limited to 48″ in the longest direction including frame. 3D submissions must be primarily photo based, i.e sculpture, wall hangings, and books. Work must be created in the last 3 years and not shown at the Levy Gallery. Over $2500 in prizes will be awarded, including the $800 Renee Giffroy Award for a photographer under 30. Learn more.

Queer Art Illuminations Grant This annual $10,000 grant will support Black trans women visual artists, drawing attention to an existing body of work. Four finalists will also receive a $1,250 award. Call to Artists and Writers The City of Watertown has announced its second round of the Edible Plants project, and interdisciplinary call for visual artists and writers. In Edible Plants 2023, ten visual artists will be selected to each create a 2-dimensional artwork, one for each of ten edible plants. Ten literary artists will also be selected, to write in their preferred style about one plant from the list. The Edible Plants project is part of Edible Watertown, a long-term interdisciplinary project that promotes awareness of our local environment through community engagement and the artistic and scientific exploration of edible plants in Watertown. Edible Watertown aims to uplift the importance of local flora and their ecosystems to connect people with the environment right outside their door. The community connections created by this local movement, in response to the global issue of climate change, will encourage us all to be better stewards of the environment and increase recognition of the known natural gifts in our community. Cultural Equity Learning Sessions The Mass Cultural Council, in partnership with Arts Connect International (ACI) and HipStory, is excited to announce the Summer 2023 Cohort of the Cultural Equity Learning Community (CELC). This two-unit, 12 session, asynchronous anti-racism course with wrap-around supports, is open to arts and culture leaders committed to building intersectional racial equity. Call for Artists The New Hampshire Art Association (NHAA) has announced their first biennial exhibition, Biennial One. For this exhibition, the NHAA invites artists to submit 1 to 3 pieces of their best work. They welcome work that uses abstract expression, addresses contemporary environmental and/or social justice issues, and pushes boundaries. All media are welcome, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, collage, printmaking, fiber, and digital art. Artists may submit a brief written statement for each of the submitted works. The juror for this exhibition is Lorenzo Fusi, Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Currier Museum of Art. Over $2000 of prize money will be awarded. Learn more.

Filmmakers Production Grants LEF New England is now welcoming applications for Pre-production and Early Development grants through the Moving Image Fund.
