We recently heard from Sara Archambault, Program Manager at the LEF Foundation (and a committed supporter of independent documentaries in New England). LEF, along with the Camden International Film Festival and Principle Pictures, are launching a new film series, the DocYard, to serve as a community-builder among filmmakers, programmers, and supporters in this region.
From LEF:
For decades, Boston has been a center for documentary film making. It is a place where students come to learn and experiment; where some of documentary’s giants are teaching and creating new work; and where the craft is continuously nurtured and expanded. Today’s documentary filmmakers are breaking new ground born, more often than not, from foundations in Boston’s rich legacy of documentary filmmaking.
THE DOCYARD is a celebration of documentary filmmaking’s past, present and future. THE DOCYARD is a bi-weekly film and discussion series, occurring every other Monday (beginning June 7th) at the Brattle Theatre throughout Summer 2010. At each screening, we will gather together to be introduced to new films, new filmmakers and connect with one another over discussions of process and craft.
THE DOCYARD is a collaboration of the LEF Foundation, the Camden International Film Festival and Principle Pictures. Our goal is for each of these events to contribute to the growth of a vibrant, creative community for Boston’s filmmakers, film students and film lovers.
Mark your calendars!
