Avoid a close shave and apply on time!

Of Note Attend the first ever Greater Boston Theatre Expo at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts, Tuesday, September 10, 5:30-7:30 PM. Over 50 theatre companies will participate in the Expo-style event, sharing information and special offers about the upcoming theatre season in the Greater Boston area. The event is free, but RSVP is encouraged.

Artist Residency The SPACE-run art center, The White Building, and Eyebeam are seeking applications from artists, engineers, designers, and creative technologists interested in being the inaugural resident in their joint residency program. The purpose of residency is to support creation of new work. Learn more.

Women Writers Proposals are now being accepted for the 2014 Berkshire Festival of Women Writers. They are looking for proposals for vibrant, inspiring readings, lectures, workshops, performances, and screenings of, by and for women writers from the Berkshires and environs. Learn more.

Craft Artists 2014 Society of Arts and Crafts Artist Awards encourage and support the work of New England craft artists who demonstrate a mastery of their media and create original and innovative work. A panel of jurors will select three artists to receive a $3,000 cash award; winners will participate in a group exhibition at SAC’s Newbury Street gallery from May to July 2014. The awards are open to craft artists working in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, or mixed media. Learn more.

Call for Artists Ancestors, Guardians and Guides: A Visual Arts and Writers’ Exhibition at the Charles Sumner School Museum, Washington, DC, is currently accepting entries. Open to all artists and accepts submissions from painters, photographers, sculptors, printmakers, muralists, installation and new media artists. Learn more.

Exhibition Proposals The Newton Free Library presents monthly shows of two-dimensional works by New England area artists in our two exhibiting spaces, the Gallery and Main Hall. We are a state-of-the-art facility visited by more than 13,000 people weekly. The Library Art Committee meets twice each year to select shows for the following year. Applications are now being accepted for exhibits for the July-December 2014 time period. Learn more.

10-Minute Plays The Boston Playwrights Theatre is accepting entries for their annual Boston Theatre Marathon. All scripts must play under 10-minutes and have a ten pages maximum. Learn more.
