URGENT: Advocacy Engagement Opportunity – Mass Wins Act The Massachusetts House of Representatives is scheduled to debate the 2026 economic development bond bill, known as the Mass Wins Act, on Wednesday, July 8. Mass Cultural Council has 2 pending amendments that will be up for a vote during the debate. There are 688 amendments filed in total, so it is important to let your state Representative know that the cultural sector proposals are important to you. Creative individuals and cultural sector organizations are encouraged to email their state Representative by 1pm on July 8 to register your support for the pending cultural sector amendments. Our statewide advocacy partner, MASSCreative, is hosting an advocacy tool so it is easy to contact your elected official and tell them of your support. Learn more.

Find a Blue Star Museum Actively serving military personnel and their families may visit participating museums nationwide for free as part of the Blue Star Museums program, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families in collaboration with the Department of War. The program began on Armed Forces Day and will continue through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2026. Participating museums can be found in all 50 states, District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and include history, art, and children’s museums; historical sites; botanical gardens; zoos; aquariums; and more. Artist Residency The Loghaven Artist Residency in Knoxville, TN, welcomes applications from both emerging and established artists in architecture, dance, interdisciplinary art, music, theater, visual art, and writing. Residents receive a living stipend of $850 per week, along with reimbursement for eligible travel and freight expenses. Practicing artists of all backgrounds and at any stage of their career are eligible to apply. Learn more and apply.

Ucross Fellowship for Native American Artists The Ucross Fellowship for Native American Artists supports the work of contemporary Native American visual artists, writers, and performers. Selected fellows are offered a four-week residency in the majestic High Plains of Wyoming. This fellowship includes uninterrupted time, private studio space, living accommodations, meals, and an award of $2,000. Fellows also have an opportunity to present their work publicly, such as a featured exhibition in the Ucross Art Gallery, a reading, or a performance. Learn more.

Call for Exhibition Proposals The Latino Cultural Center (LCC) in Dallas, Texas, invites visual artists and curators to submit proposals for its 2027 exhibition calendar. Open to a broad range of media, voices, and perspectives, the LCC especially welcomes proposals that celebrate the Latino diaspora or explore topics impacting Latino communities. Proposals should demonstrate strong artistic quality and include plans for public programming, such as workshops and/or lectures and layout plans. Learn more.

Emerging Writers Electric Literature’s first-ever Emerging Writers Contest opened for submissions on July 1, 2026. First-place winners selected by guest judges Alexander Chee in fiction and Danez Smith in poetry will receive $1,000, publication in EL’s literary magazines, and a two-week writing residency in downtown Las Vegas. Entry fee is $20 per submission. All submissions will be considered for publication. Learn more.
Deadline: July 15, 2026, 11:59 PM Pacific Time or until contest reaches submission caps (1,000 for fiction and 600 for poetry)

Artist Residency The Kyoto Retreat offers artists, curators, and writers from around the world a four-week residency in Kyoto, Japan. Selected participants receive roundtrip airfare, private accommodations, and an $800 USD stipend for meals and local transportation. The program is open to applicants age 21 and older at all career stages working across visual arts, film, new media, writing, interdisciplinary, and social practice. Call to Artists Workshop13 in Ware is accepting entries for an exhibition that aims to showcase art that embodies the principles of realism, highlighting the beauty of precise representation. Cash prized in various categories, including $1000 for Best in Show. Juror: Scott Prior. Show dates: August 22 – September 6; Saturdays & Sundays, 1-4pm. Opening reception: August 22, 1-5pm. Call for Artists The American Ornithologist Society will hold its annual meeting at UMass Amherst on August 3rd-7th. They are offering table opportunities for nature inspired local artists to come to the meeting and showcase and sell their art. Table pricing will be $150 for two whole days (3 and 4, or 5 and 6). The meeting usually has at least 700-800 attendees, and sessions begin at 8am-8pm. Any artist can participate, but please we expect artists to sell primarily their handmade or self designed art work. Exhibitor Open Call Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) and Boston Art Review are pleased to announce the return of the Boston Art Book Fair (BosABF), taking place November 13–15, 2026, at the historic Cyclorama in Boston’s South End. Applications are open to independent publishers, artists, designers, writers, educators, collectives, bookstores, presses, and cultural organizations. We encourage participation from both established and emerging creatives, with a particular interest in showcasing diverse perspectives, innovative publishing practices, and interdisciplinary approaches to art and storytelling. Call to Artists The Newton Free Library is currently accepting art applications for month-long exhibits for January – June, 2027. As one of the busiest public library buildings in Massachusetts, our exhibit space is highly sought after and well-loved by library patrons. They welcome applications from New England artists showing two-dimensional works. They encourage artists from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences to apply. No submission fee. Learn more.

Call for Watercolors The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is accepting entries for Along the Coast: An Online Show. Open to Artists Nationwide. Open to all 2D media (excluding photography and digital). Submission Fee: $15 (per image) for non-members, $10 (per image) for members. Learn more.

Call for Cover Art The Aspen Institute Leadership Seminars department is accepting entries for The Canvas of Leadership: 2026 Cover Art Contest. This cover art contest celebrates the power of visual art to provoke thought, deepen inquiry, and ground us in shared humanity. Whether through painting, photography, mixed media, or graphic design, this cover art contest welcomes works that address one or more of the following themes: Dialogue Across Difference; Understanding over Agreement.
