Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program The Environmental Protection Agency selected Health Resources in Action (HRiA) to implement the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (TCGM) for Region One: New England, in partnership with Alternatives for Community & Environment, Inc. (ACE) and New England Grassroots Environmental Fund (Grassroots Fund). This funding, which includes $40 million in grants over three years, comes as an effort by the Biden-Harris Administration to strip away traditional barriers communities have faced in applying for federal grants. They are seeking people interested in two opportunities: 1) Governance Council: seeking individuals, prioritizing those from disadvantaged, urban, rural, indigenous, remote, and capacity-constrained communities most impacted by environmental and public health challenges, and individuals who work in organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to serving these communities. Governance Council members are asked to leverage their expertise, lived experience, and their community’s perspectives. If interested: consider nominating yourself for the Governance Council; or forward opportunity to individuals whom you think would be a strong fit for the Governance Council. Email ejgrantsnewengland@hria.org with questions. Learn more including how to submit your interest. 2) Anchor Organizations: HRiA will select six community-based organizations or coalitions (One for each New England state) to join the team. Each will receive $150,000/year. Nominations and self-nominations encouraged. Email questions related to Anchor Organizations to Stephanie Williams at stephanie@ace-ej.org. Learn more and find nomination form.
Deadline for nominations/self-nominations: July 1, 2024 or until the Governance Council members and Anchor Organizations have been selected.
