New Media Artists The New Media exhibition will use the interior of Boston City Hall. Open to artists that live or work in Boston, the exhibition will be displayed from October – November 2011. Although some equipment is available (2 projectors), artists will be asked to provide their own computers, video players, and monitors for the duration of the exhibition. Submit the following materials to John Crowley, Exhibitions Director, Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism, and Special Events, Boston City Hall, Room 802, Boston, MA 02201: 5 jpegs (72 dpi), or photographs, of work; 1-5 minutes of video work in either vhs, dvd format or a link to your website; brief description of the work you are proposing; resume or brief description of your art experiences; self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE).

Sculptors An opportunity to create a sculptural tribute to Vince A. Droser to be permanently installed in Peabody Square, Dorchester, MA. The work to be commissioned is envisioned to be an “art installation with a surprise”. The committee would like to honor Vince’s spirit by allowing the project to also function as a location for annual community/culinary celebrations. The budget is $150,000-200,000. Learn more. Designers Sappi Fine Paper North America has announced the 2011 call for entries for Ideas that Matter, an annual grant program that recognizes and supports designers who donate their time and talent to create communications materials for a wide range of charitable activities. Ideas that Matter grants will be given to individual designers, design firms, agencies, in-house corporate design departments, design instructors, and individual design students and design student groups working on any kind of communication project that supports the needs of a nonprofit organization. Painters Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) is now accepting applications for The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant. Grants will be offered to American painters aged 45 or older who demonstrate financial need. The primary emphasis is to promote public awareness and a commitment to American art, as well as encouraging interest in artists who lack adequate recognition. Call to Artists As part of the renovation of the Church of St. Paul cathedral, the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts has decided to commission an artist to design and produce a work of contemporary public art for the pediment of the church, which is a long vacant space.
