Call to Artists Brookline Arts Make Community (BAMC) seeks proposals from artists (solo or teams) with experience in outdoor and site-specific works. We’re looking for vibrant and playful concepts to bring joy and beauty to Brookline’s streets. Boxes Around Town (Round 3): BAMC invites artists to submit artwork designs for transforming three utility boxes along Harvard Street into captivating pieces of art. These painted installations provide a canvas for artists to infuse color, vibrancy, and narrative into the everyday streetscape.

Turkeys Around Town (Round 2): Paying homage to Brookline’s unofficial mascots, BAMC continues its popular program of personalized and painted fiberglass turkey sculptures. Inspired by the “Cow Parade,” these turkey sculptures add whimsy and charm to Brookline’s commercial areas. Artists are encouraged to submit proposals for designing and painting three fiberglass turkey sculptures to be installed at the Public Library of Brookline branch locations (Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, and Putterham).

Art Around Town (Art Benches): BAMC seeks local artists to submit design proposals for two park benches that will be primed, painted, and sealed before installation on the Town Hall Lawn. These “art benches” should reflect the spirit and diversity of Brookline, creating functional and beautiful pieces of art for the community to enjoy.
Deadline: August 2, 2024 at 12:00 pm.

The mural is an extension of a larger project by a Watertown working group to memorialize Gorky’s time in Watertown, MA, and his contribution to modern art, led jointly by resident Jack Dargon and the Public Arts and Culture Committee with support from The Armenian Museum of Watertown, Mosesian Center for the Arts, and the Historical Society of Watertown. Learn more.
