Emerging Arts Writer Residency The Emerging Arts Writer Residency at Kingston Gallery offers an art writer the opportunity to join a community of practicing artists, write and publish critical essays on art exhibits, and work with a mentor during a 14-month residency. The residency will start April 2020, beginning with two months to get to know the gallery members, followed by twelve months to write. Kingston Gallery, an artist-run gallery in Boston’s SOWA district, exhibits two or three different shows each month, approximately 24-28 shows a year. Learn more.

Watercolors The Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, MO, has announced a call for entries for Watercolor USA 2020, highlighting contemporary American watermedia. This year’s exhibit will run from June 6 through August 16, 2020. Organized in 1962, this year marks the 59th year of Watercolor USA. The nationally known exhibition is open to artists from all 50 states and U.S. territories, and seeks to discover what is new and what is next in the world of American watermedia. This year’s juror is Misa Jeffereis, Assistant Curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Learn more.

Documentary Filmmakers Production Grants The International Documentary Association (IDA) Enterprise Documentary Fund provides production funds to feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the needs of the project.
