Alexander Rutsch Award and Exhibition for Painting 2025 The Pelham Art Center is pleased to announce a call for entries for the 13th biennial Alexander Rutsch Award and Exhibition for Painting. This juried competition is open to U.S.-based artists aged 19 and older. The winner is awarded a $7,500 cash prize, a solo exhibition and printed catalog at Pelham Art Center and $2,500 is divided among the finalists. Pelham Art Center is proud to sponsor this competition and award honoring the memory and artistic achievement of artist Alexander Rutsch (1916 – 1997). Rutsch actively supported Pelham Art Center for more than 25 years. After his death, friends, family, and supporters established a generous fund to support a biennial, juried competition in painting. The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant is one of the most prestigious grants available to emerging representational artists, as well as one of the most substantial. It is one of the longest standing, with an illustrious history of recipients spanning more than half a century. The Foundation provides financial assistance, by way of grants, to young artists who are pursuing their studies or are in the early stage of their career, are working in a representational style of painting, drawing, sculpture or printmaking, and demonstrate the determination and talent to pursue a lifetime career in their art practice. The Fine Arts Works Center 2025-2026 Writing Fellowship The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown has supported emerging writers and artists for over 50 years, granting 10 annual fellowships to writers and 10 annual fellowships to visual artists for a seven-month residency that runs from October 1 – April 30. Fellows, who are selected through a rigorous jury process, are awarded a $1250 monthly stipend, private accommodations on the grounds of The Fine Arts Work Center, as well as a $1,000 exit stipend to support relocation at the end of the Fellowship. The duration of the residency is entirely self-directed, intended to serve as unrestricted time for writers in the crucial, early stages of their careers. Learn more.

Artist Residency The Tofte Lake Center in Ely, Minnesota, is currently accepting applications for  two Individual Artist Residencies. These residencies are focused on individual artists and/or small collaborative teams of all disciplines (literary, performing and visual arts) who wish to create work in the natural environment and in community with other artists in all stages of their career. There is also time for play and rejuvenation – all in support of each artist’s goals, needs and interests. Lodging is provided- we are not able to provide additional stipends or travel subsidies at this time. Learn more.

Un-monument x Boston Art Review Call for Writers The Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture (MOAC) is partnering with Boston Art Review to provide opportunities for writers to research, write, and publish work about the projects and ideas that are being developed through the Un-monument initiative. Call for Exhibition Proposals The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) is pleased to announce that it is accepting proposals for its 2025 season to be juried for 5 independently-curated shows, running from late-May through early October at The Cove Gallery (37 Rocky Neck Avenue) in Gloucester. Proposals may be submitted at any time during the year, but the deadline for next year is February 10, 2025. There is no fee to submit a proposal. Learn more.
