Photographers Emerson Contemporary seeks critically engaged photographic series and lens-based works for a three-week exhibition considering ideas and issues related to “movement/s.” This topical and timely show is a part of an upper-level seminar on Curatorial Practices in the department of Visual & Media Studies. Call to Artists Newton Artful Pianos 2025! If you’re an artist who enjoys public art and is looking for a challenge, we invite you to apply to paint a piano. Your work will be reviewed by a jury, and selected artists will be asked to send concept sketches. Selected artists will receive a stipend of $400, which includes the purchase of materials. The pianos will be painted at the Crystal Lake bathhouse from April 14-May 9 (exact times TBD). Questions? Email culture@newtonma.gov. Learn more and apply.

Call for Native Artists A Trail Marker Logo Design Project. The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) in partnership with the USDA Forest Service and the Pacific Northwest Trail Association (PNTA), is requesting proposals from Native artists to create a new service mark (logo) that will serve as the visual identity of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail (PNT). Sculptor Residency The Artist Residencies at the Carving Studio & Sculpture Center in West Rutland, VT, offer sculptors opportunities for inspiration and to create new work in the former marble quarry and manufacturing area of Vermont. Residencies are from 1 to 3 months, featuring artists working in a diverse range of materials and techniques. The Carving Studio & Sculpture Center offers Artists in Residence comprehensive facilities for creating works in stone, metal, wood, clay and more. Residents become part of our vibrant artist community, sharing in the exchange of concepts, aesthetics and technical expertise. Stipends and housing are available to selected Artists in Residence. Call to Sculptors Newburyport Art (NAA) invites all sculptors to submit works to be considered for the tenth-year-long exhibit at the NAA Range Lights Sculpture Garden. At nearly 3,000 square feet, the Garden resides behind the historic Newburyport Art Association building at 65 Water St. Situated along the extremely popular Newburyport Rail Trail, it is seen and visited by hundreds of people every week. Call for Art The Cape Cod Museum of Art is accepting entries for their annual international juried exhibition Dreamscapes and Inner Worlds. This call for art is intended to allow for broad interpretations, encompassing, but not limited to, surrealist imagery, fantasy, memories, stream of consciousness, otherworldly visions and abstraction. Alternative interpretations related to the theme are welcomed. Artwork submission(s) are open to all traditional and unconventional 2d and 3d mediums, as well as, video and digital art Learn more.

Photographers Entries are currently being accepted for the Griffin Museum of Photography’s exhibition Our Town. The exhibition brings together a collection of photographs that celebrate the beauty and rhythm of everyday life in Winchester. Showcasing the work of our local residents, this special exhibition will be displayed on the cubes at Winchester Town Common from June to September 2025 and will also be available online. Learn more.

Playwrights The Marion Center for the Arts (MAC) is accepting applications to their MAC Theater Playwrights Incubator program. Any new writer who has not yet been published or had a play produced is invited to submit a script or outline for consideration. There is no cost to participate in this program. Selected applicants are required to sign an agreement with the MAC Theater, outlining expectations and a commitment to the program. Playwrights must be available to meet on site with mentors, for readings and all aspects of the production process including auditions, rehearsals, tech work and performances. It is a structured program that aims to discover and support, through workshop and production, new stage plays by first time, unpublished regional playwrights. Learn more.

The East Village Queer Film Festival East Village Queer Film Festival (EVQ) celebrates queer film in all it’s glorious diversity. We welcome filmmakers who entertain, explore and promote queer-themed issues and as well as the downtown avant-garde. EVQ’s further goal is community building through queer cinema. EVQ promotes the work of queer film and fosters a highly inclusive environment for all artists. When/Where: August 20-24, 2025. Learn more.
