Fifield Art Gallery, BHCC Charlestown Campus will Present: Mother Tongue, works by Pan-Asian Boston-area Women Artists during International Women’s History Month MARCH 2017. Playwrights Panglossian is seeking new full-length plays for their new global/local developmental reading series, Plays in Progress. They work with writers across the globe to develop work locally in Williamsburg. Selected playwrights will discuss their goals for the script with their staff, attend one or two discussion/rehearsals, and participate in a public reading, which will be streamed online. Writers who are not local may participate virtually over Skype.  While they are open to any genre, they would love to receive more comedic full-lengths and smart plays for young audiences. Call for Art Art League Rhode Island is currently accepting entries for their open juried Boats, Surf, and Beaches Exhibit. Top prize is $1,000. Exhibit is at the VETS Gallery in Providence, RI. Learn more.

Mystery Writers Scholarship The Helen McCloy/MWA Scholarship for Mystery Writing seeks to nurture talent in mystery writing—in fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, and screenwriting. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents only. The McCloy Scholarship is intended for serious aspiring mystery writers who wish to improve their writing skills. Applicants should not have received monetary compensation for novels, short stories, non-fiction, screenplays or play scripts in the crime-writing genre. Learn more.

Fiction, Nonfiction Red Hen Press is currently accepting entries for their Women’s Prose Prize. A prize of $1,000 and publication by Red Hen Press will be given annually for a book of fiction or nonfiction by a woman. Aimee Bender will judge. Learn more.

Poets Entries are currently being accepted for the Atlanta Review’s International Poetry Competition. A prize of $1,000 and publication in Atlanta Review. Submit up to two poems of any length with an $11 entry fee ($16 for up to four poems) by March 1. All entries are considered for publication. Learn more.

Call for Art The Rocky Neck Art Colony seeks works of art by RNAC members featuring both representational and abstract 2D works in water media, oil, graphite, encaustic, photographs and prints; and also jewelry, ceramics and sculpture. Learn more.

Artist Residency, Site-Specific Installation The Goetemann Artist Residency Program in Gloucester offers three juried residencies each summer in their free live/work space. They also have a new fellowship program offering one month free in their live/work space for a site-specific installation on the grounds of The Ocean Alliance. The Alliance is dedicated to whale research and ocean protection. New Puppetry The Puppeteers of America Rose Endowment Fund supports the production of new puppetry shows, the creation of experimental puppets or techniques, and/or the production of puppet-related media. Awards generally range from $500 to $1000. Learn more.
