Pat Falco Written All Over It

October 31, 2013 Leave a Comment

Pat Falco, CLOUD INSTALLATION (ABSTRACT), part of the 2013 deCordova Biennial thru April 13, 2014

Pat Falco creates drawings and text-based art with a direct style and a tricksy wit. His work, currently on view at the 2013 deCordova Biennial at the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, will be on view in the artist’s studio as part of the South Boston Open Studios, this weekend.

A brief q&a with the artist:

What’s the most important thing to keep in mind as you’re preparing for an open studios?
Free drinks and snacks are much more important than the art.

What artist do you most admire but work nothing like?
Jenny Holzer

What’s the most surprising response to your art you’ve ever received?
Someone liked it.

Pat Falco, ALMOST A VENN DIAGRAM

In a paint ball battle between artists of all disciplines, who wins?
Performance Artists

Computer, longhand, or typewriter?
Longhand

What do you listen to while you create?
NPR and Gangster Rap.

Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall?
I like Fall but that’s kind of trendy right now so I’ll say Winter.

Do you live with any animals?
I have some dead fish.

Pat Falco, MISSING: MISSING CAT POSTERS

What are you currently reading?
East of Eden.

Have you ever revised your work on the spot, during an install (intentionally, I mean)?
Yes, I think I’ve only done that.

How many revisions does your work typically go through?
I’m not sure, if I don’t like something when it’s done, I’ll just paint over it and do something else.

What’s next?
That’s a good question.

Pat Falco‘s art can be viewed at the South Boston Open Studios (Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3, 2013) and at the 2013 deCordova Biennial at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum (through April 13, 2014).
