2026 Christmas Carol Commission Competition Applications are now open for the second annual Back Bay Chorale Carol Commission Competition. Each year, they invite composers to submit their work for review by a panel of internationally recognized artists. The selected composer receives a formal commission, a $2,500 cash prize, and something truly special: the experience of hearing their brand-new carol premiered by their 100-voice ensemble at their popular Boston Christmas concerts at Old South Church. Printmakers Mentorship Zea Mays Printmaking offers a unique opportunity for artists seeking to deepen their artistic practice while developing their printmaking skills. The Artist Mentorship Program (AMP) pairs each participating artist with a Zea Mays Printmaking faculty member who serves as their Primary Mentor. Working closely together on a self-designed course, the mentor is there to guide the artist through technical and conceptual challenges, helping refine the artist’s eye and skill. Learn more.

Call to Wood Working Artists The City of Medford is excited to announce plans for a new addition to a beloved neighborhood park, Logan Park Playground! A deceased Pin Oak tree in the park was cut down for safety, but a roughly 12′ tree butte has been left in place as the site of a future sculpture. The City of Medford is commissioning an artist to work with the City to develop a design and create a public sculpture using the standing tree butte. A commission of $9,000 will be available to the selected artist. Learn more.

Illuminations Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists This grant sheds light on the under-recognized contributions of Black trans women visual artists and provides critical support to their continuing work. Developed and named in partnership with Mariette Pathy Allen, Aaryn Lang, and Serena Jara, this grant supports visual artists who are self-identified Black trans women and awards $10,000 to the winner and $1,250 to distinguished finalists. Judges for the 2026 grant cycle include Ut Petit, Isis Awad, and Jordyn Jay. Qualified artists must be self-identified Black trans women and trans femmes working in visual art and based in the United States. Learn more.

Request for Proposals (RFP) for Public Sculpture The Town of Brookline is seeking to commission a dragonfly sculpture at the new Public Health Plaza. The dragonfly theme originates from the existing “Garden of Remembrance” which was dedicated in 2008 to the memory of Jennifer Lynch, a native of Brookline and a victim of domestic violence. Artist Residency The Cloth Collaborative in Hyde Park residency offers an immersion—into a community, into process, into time. Residents are invited to engage with the Cloth Collaborative and broader Boston art community. They are seeking artists with an active, contemporary practice who are interested in working within a shared studio and living environment. While a strong connection to textile practices is important, textiles do not need to define an artist’s entire practice; rather, they should be meaningfully present within the work. Learn more.

Call to Artists The New Hampshire Artist Association invites artists and craftspeople to submit work for Cheers!, a juried exhibition celebrating functional cups, mugs, tumblers, and drinking vessels of all kinds, to be held at NHAA’s Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth, NH, July 29–August 30, 2026. Artists may submit work created in ceramic, glass, metal, wood, or any other food-safe medium, and conceptual interpretations that stretch or reimagine what a “cup” can be are encouraged. Artists may submit up to 6 cups; all work must be functional and food safe. Individual cup prices may not exceed $175 and should be priced separately rather than as a set. Artist-in-Residence Program Looking for time, space, and support to bring your vision to life? Apply to the Foundry’s Artist-in-Residence program. Residents receive a stipend, studio space, and access to their maker spaces, all within a vibrant, multidisciplinary arts community.
