Vintage Snapshots of Summer Fun on the Beach (13)

Fiction The Bard Fiction Prize is awarded to a promising, emerging writer who is an American citizen aged 39 years or younger at the time of application. In addition to the monetary award, the winner receives an appointment as writer in residence at Bard College for one semester, without the expectation that he or she teach traditional courses. Sculpture Proposals The In Practice program offers artists curatorial and financial support to create new work for exhibition at SculptureCenter (Long Island, NY). They invite artists to submit proposals for new projects to be presented in early 2017. Artists selected for the In Practice exhibition will receive a $250 honorarium and up to $2,000 in production support. The level of production support will depend on the scope of accepted works and available funding. Learn more.

Kala Artist Fellowship The Kala Fellowship  award is an international competition open to artists from the U.S. and around the world. Artists producing innovative work in all mediums including printmaking, digital media, installation art, social practice, photography, and book arts are encouraged to apply. Kala will award eight artists a $3,000 stipend, unlimited access to Kala’s facilities for up to six months, one Kala class, and a culminating show in the Kala Gallery. Learn more.

Artist Residency The Marfa Contemporary Artist in Residence program in Marfa, TX, invites artists involved in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, installation, performance-related media and other fine art media are eligible to apply for a residency. The residency is for a two-month period. Marfa Contemporary provides a furnished apartment and artist studio. A stipend of $1,100 per month is provided to assist with living expenses and art materials. Learn more.

Call for Videos The Fitchburg Cultural Council is accepting entries for the Main Street Video Wall Project. They are seeking submissions of Animation, Photography, Illustration, and Video work that is between 1 and 15 minutes long (15 or more still images); not intended for advertising purposes;  visually striking (abstract or realistic); family friendly (no graphic violence or sexually charged imagery). They do not have a sound system yet so, if you video is dependent on sound, let them know so they can make arrangements.

Artists, Writers Residency Application are now being accepted for MASS MoCA’s residency program for artists & writers, the Studios at MASS MoCA, in North Adams, MA, for 1-8 week sessions available October 2016 thru March 2017. They provide exceptionally talented peers, private studio space on the MASS MoCA campus, newly renovated housing right across the street from the museum, one group meal per day, free access to MASS MoCA’s galleries throughout the residency, use of printmaking and fiber arts equipment at the nearby Makers’ Mill community makerspace, and optional one-on-one financial and business coaching through the Assets for Artists program.
