Advocacy Alert: Seeking Co-sponsor for Senate Budget Amendment 171 On May 7 the Senate Committee on Ways & Means released it’s FY25 spending plan. This budget embraced our request and funded Mass Cultural Council at the Governor’s recommendation – $25,546,197. However, the Final House Budget funds the Agency at $26,75M. Creative and cultural sector stakeholders are urged to reach out to their state Senate office during the week of May 13 to urge them to support and co-sponsor Chair Mark’s amendment to increase Mass Cultural Council’s appropriation to match the House’s. Cambridge Residents Block Party season is here and the City of Cambridge is increasing grants to $300 for block parties in 2024 to help more neighborhoods hold celebrations. Any block is eligible to apply for funding and free access to pop-up play equipment through the Block Party Resources Request Form.

Membership in New Gallery The Art Gallery (TAG) is accepting applications for membership. TAG is situated in the vibrant SoWA Arts and Culture District in Boston. The gallery’s membership model offers three tiers of participation to accommodate various artistic needs and aspirations. Members have the opportunity to exhibit and sell work in the gallery space, engage with fellow artists, and participate in curated events and exhibitions that celebrate creativity and innovation. Artists working in a multitude of mediums and techniques, including painting, printmaking, drawings, sculpture, creative writing, photography, mixed media, and digital art, metal, glass, fiber, ceramics, jewelry, installations, new media, are welcome to apply. Trophy Designers The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is seeking local and diverse designers for trophy designs for the new and upcoming FM Global Championship at TPC Boston at the end of August. Submit your interest by creating an account, providing contact information, and answering a handful of questions about your trophy design experience. Learn more.

Call for Artists Arts at the Stone Church, First Congregational Church of Wareham, UCC, has announced a call for artists for an Annual Pride Celebration Art Show, June 28-30. Call to Artists The Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth is currently accepting entries for the exhibition Call Me When You Get Over the Bridge. The exhibition will be hosted in the Guyer Barn at the Cultural Center’s HyArts Programming Annex in Hyannis, MA. Exhibition dates: June 5–August 31, 2024. Learn more.

Mural Class Common Wealth Murals in Springfield is accepting applications from artists and muralists for participation in the 2024 Community Mural Master Class to recreate a mural by AfriCOBRA artist Nelson Stevens. The class is a paid training, offering opportunities for learning, community-building and exposure as an artist. Napoleon Jones-Henderson will serve as Artistic Director for the 2024 Master Class. Professional Development Program for Musicians Music to Life, invites musicians to apply to its online incubator program – the Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Academy – starting August 12, 2024. Participating musicians receive cash and services worth $7500 including: a $500 participation stipend, 6 weeks instructional training in program and grants development, networking sessions with like-minded entrepreneurial artists and thought leaders, 30+ hours of intensive 1:1 coaching, and $2,000 matching seed funding and $500 community partner stipend to launch a program pilot. Candidates will be selected based on their musical talent and their enterprising idea for a music-driven social change program in their community. Learn more.

Call to Artists Galley West Art Gallery (GWAG) in Orleans showcases local artists from the 8 towns of the Lower & Outer Cape: Brewster, Harwich, Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown. They are currently accepting entries for their summer exhibition (June 26-August 17, 2024). The juror is Aline Lindmann. Learn more.

Call to Artists Larkin Gallery in Harwich Port on Cape Cod invites artists to participate in their open call juried exhibit, A Different Dimension.  Selections will be based on artistic and creative quality, interpretation of the theme and space allotment. There is no fee to enter. The challenge that we present with A Different Dimension is for the artist to blaze a new trail to expand their minds – and ours, their talents, and abilities, to create a work of art that represents a parting from those comfort zones thus expanding their universe allowing the viewer to discover, along with the visual artist, a new dimension of the artist’s sensibility. Salem Poet Laureate The city of Salem seeks its first Poet Laureate. The Poet Laureate will serve for a two-year term 2025-2026. A stipend of $1,500 paid over a 2-year term. Must be 18 or older. Must be a resident of Salem, MA. Learn more.

Filmmakers CineFest Latino Boston is committed to using the power of film to break stereotypes, bring cultures and communities together and reveal the complex issues affecting the Latinx community in the United States, as well as communities in Latin America and Spain. The CineFest Latino Boston Selection Committee will choose the films to be screened at this year’s festival. The committee will look for innovative works that are by or about the U.S. Latino community, Latin America and Spain. They must have been produced between 2021 and 2024. Learn more.

Call to Artists The Destination:Nature 2024 Juried Art Show invites artists inspired by nature to reflect their interactions with and response to the wild and scenic Nashua River Watershed. The Harvard Conservation Trust is partnering again with Fivesparks to celebrate art and nature with a juried art show. This partnership will highlight the beauty of the diverse environments of the Nashua River Watershed: the river with all its tributaries, its wildlife, plant life and the lands and communities it nourishes. This year’s theme is: “Wild and Scenic”. Juried by Jane Winchell, Director of the Art & Nature Center at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Cash and future exhibit awards.
