Pitchy! Boring! Next!

Singers The TV show The X Factor has announced an open call audition in Providence, RI on May 10, 2012. They are also accepting online submissions for those who cannot make it out to Providence. They are looking for solo singers, girl groups, duos, boy bands or vocal groups. The competition is open to everyone that is 12 years old (as of January 1, 2012) and above, with no age cap. Children’s Writer-in-Residence Program  The Associates of the Boston Public Library is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Children’s Writer-in-Residence Program. Projects eligible for this program are fiction, non-fiction, a script, or poetry, intended for children or young adults. Illustrations may be combined with any of these formats, but are not required. The selected applicant will receive a $20,000 stipend and office space at the BPL’s Central Library in Copley Square.  Learn more.

Visual Arts/New Media Applications are now being accepted for the annual The Kala Fellowship Awards. Artists producing innovative work in book arts, electronic/digital media (video, sound, animation, etc.), installation art, social practice, photography, and printmaking are encouraged to apply. Learn more.
Deadline: May 18, 2012

Visual Artists Entries are now being accepted for the Art Takes Times Square exhibition. One artist will be selected to receive $10,000 cash, a printed inclusion in a limited edition Art Takes Times Square book, and have his/her work displayed on the most iconic billboards of Times Square. Deadline: May 25th, 2012

Performing Artists The New England Foundation for the Art’s NEST grant program provides support to New England-based nonprofit organizations (known as presenters/the people that hire you to play) for performances and community activities by select New England performing artists. Get listed on the Matchbook.org site in order to be an eligible performing artist for the NEST grant program.  Learn more.

Arts Writers The Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation 2012 Arts Writers Grant Program is now accepting submissions. Categories include articles, blogs, books, new and alternative media, and short-form writing. Learn more.
Deadline: June 6, 2012

Visual Art Grants The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications from mid-career painters, sculptors, printmakers, or mixed media artist in New England and Columbia and Northeast Dutchess counties, NY.  Non-profit organizations wishing to show, commission, or purchase work by mature artists (meaning one’s age, not emotional maturity) living in New England may also apply. Grants range from $2,000 to $10,000. Learn more.
