Attendance is FREE and open to the public.

Here’s your chance to visit Gallows Hill Artists. Home to a hard-working collective of 12 talented artists in Salem’s only communal artist studio space. Please visit and support your local artists, view our gallery and studios, shop at our artist market, and enjoy an afternoon of creativity.

Artists include James Bostick, Photography; Davis Burr, Painting; Carol Cross, Glass Arts; Laurel Driskill, Painting and Fashion; E. B. Goodale, Illustration and Printmaking; Joey Higgins, Photography; CJ Karch, Photography and Puppetry; Dale Ducillo Lewinski, Painting and Jewelry; Katherine Miura, Painting; Linda Mullen “Grace and Diggs”, Wearable Art and Immersive Environments; Jessica Murdock, Painting and Drawing; and Lee Wolf, Illustration and Painting.

Gallows Hill Artists is located in a historic warehouse in Salem’s Gallows Hill neighborhood. Our creative space features original post and beam interiors reminiscent of its factory roots. Just steps from Proctor’s Ledge, this historic location overlooks the site of Salem’s infamous 1692 hanging of 19 innocent people. The warehouse was originally built around 1900 as one of Salem’s great tanneries, The Arthur J Mulholland Company, and remains as one that survived the Great Salem Fire of 1914. This building is one of the only remaining tannery buildings in Salem.

    Information for Visitors:

Gallows Hill Artists is located on the third floor at 16 Proctor Street. We do not have a passenger elevator. Please be careful on the stairs.

Parking is available in our lot on Proctor Street just a short walk from the building. Additional parking is available at Gallows Hill Park near the ball field. Please park responsibly with respect for our neighbors and local parking laws.

Our studios are working artist spaces and generally not open to the public.

AIRSpace Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its fall arts exhibition, CHANNELS, featuring artists Aldo Cipriani, S.T.Gately and Robert Markey.

The three artists were selected in response to an open call for proposals issued by AIRSpace Gallery in early 2024.This exhibition, CHANNELS, seeks to showcase the distinct artistic approaches of each artist while paying attention to the commonalities in their methods of art-making.

CHANNELS explores the concept of channeling- the process of allowing a flow of energy (or spiritual connection) to pass through and landing on the canvas. As S.T.Gately states “What binds these works is that they capture and detail the artists’ emotions, as well as specific moments in time- the viewer is being led into the inner world of our thoughts and emotions.” Gately uses organic and natural materials to compose complex, color saturated worlds that translate into neural plasticity; compensatory masquerade is S.T. Gately’s way of letting us look into her mind as she processes her art. Aldo Ciprianis’ art challenges us to redefine “controlled chaos”, allowing us to safely enter a world where urban centers and their denizens are at once threatening while also welcoming. His work invites audiences into a world where sharks freely consume within the canvas edge. Robert Markey approaches his subjects with a humble appreciation of light, color and form. His art is one of social Justice, allowing him to travel and make art with people around the world. Through his urban compositions featuring drain pipes, faucets, and door locks, he encourages viewers to pay closer attention to often overlooked elements.
