The narrative that we’ve created in America doesn’t contain enough of the everyday people… who are ordinary like me but doing extraordinary things.
– L’Merchie Frazier
On the Mass Cultural Council’s Creative Minds Out Loud podcast, L’Merchie Frazier discusses how art can be transformative to the community members she works with.
“My work is centered on speaking out loud and helping others to speak out loud to find their voices,” Frazier says.
Whether it’s her When Women Succeed: The Quilted Path project as a Boston Artist-in-Residence or the Home Is Where I Am project as a Stable Ground Artist-in-Residence, Frazier acts almost like an ambassador for the power of art – helping community members tell their stories while discovering the transformative potential of an artistic practice.
