Call for Artists The Hyde Park ArtScene midsummer festival is seeking artists to sell their hand-made works. Logan Square, Hyde Park’s main business district, comes alive with street games, performers, dance, and music on Saturday July 28, 2012, 4pm – 9pm. Learn more.

Painters The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is currently accepting submissions for their 19th annual watercolor competition. Learn more.
Deadline: July 15, 2012

Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking The Berkshire Taconic Foundation is currently accepting grant applications from mid-career artists with financial need. Learn more.
Deadline: August 1, 2012

Visual, Media, Performance, Sound Artists The seARTS Partner with an Artist Program is now accepting applications. The program supports artists and encourages creative new work that connects to the local community and that will attract residents and visitors to explore and enjoy the Cultural District. Five $1,500 grants will be awarded. Learn more.
Deadline: August 3, 2012

Playwrights The Yale Drama Series is currently accepting original, unpublished, full-length plays written in English for the David C. Horn Prize of $10,000. The winner will receive publication of the manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater. No translations, musicals, or children’s plays.  Learn more.
Deadline: August 15, 2012

Poets Bauhan Publishing is now accepting submissions for the 2012 May Sarton New Hampshire Book Prize. Entrants may reside anywhere in the world, but must write in English. The winner receives $1000, book publication, and 100 copies of the published book. Learn more.
Deadline: August 31, 2012 (postmarked)

Media or Technology-Based Work Proposals for exhibitions of media or technology-based work are reviewed twice a year. Response time is generally 6-9 months. Please do not call The Kitchen regarding your proposal. You will be notified by mail. Proposals should include the following: project description, CVs or resumes, work documentation in the form of JPEGS or links to a URL (do not send more than 5 JPEGS, and relevant press materials). Send your proposal to: submissions@thekitchen.org

Upcoming: Creative Economy Listening Tour and Focus Groups Schedule. The meetings will help guide the future priorities of the Massachusetts Creative Economy Council.

Live/Work Space The town of Framingham is reaching out to artists and creative professionals looking for residential alternatives to Boston and Cambridge. They have a financial assistance program for home buyers with low or moderate incomes. Learn more.
