Ten-Minute Plays CulturalDC has announced the Source Festival 2014 open-call for 10-minute play submissions. The Festival runs from June 6-29, 2014 and, in addition to other programming, will produce 18 10-minute plays. Playwrights are asked to submit 10-minute plays related to one of the following themes: Mortality/Immortality; Revenge; Quests. Learn more.

Desert Writers The Ellen Meloy Fund Desert Writers Award is a prize of $3,000, given to a creative nonfiction writer who uses the desert landscape, ecosystem, geography, history, and/or experience as the foundation and inspiration for their literary project. Proposed projects should include creative time spent in a desert environment. Learn more.

Call for Proposals Tinderbox is currently accepting proposals. The curatorial focus of the Tinderbox Series at Mobius is on presenting a stimulating, creative and diverse series of experimental work including but not limited to performance art, film, video, new music, sound art, movement, collaborative and interdisciplinary work. Call for Art The Nave Gallery Annex in Somerville invites artists to participate in the juried exhibition Love Shack, opening Feb. 14, 2014. The exhibition will feature artists exploring themes related specifically to Valentine’s Day and/or more broadly, love. Open to all artists. Learn more.

Three Juried Calls Mayfair Festival of the Arts in Allentown, PA is inviting artists working in all media to submit entries to The Gallery at Mayfair juried gallery exhibit ($35 fee), the Pig Pen Installation Art exhibit (no fee), and a juried Artists Market (indoor and outdoor; $35 jury fee and $325 booth fee). Opera Grants for Female Composers OPERA America invites proposals for grants of up to $15,000 from female composers able to document their ability to compose theatrical works for the classically trained voice and instrumental ensemble. In addition, grant recipients will have the opportunity to meet leaders in the field and the chance to participate in Forum meetings and annual conferences. Learn more.
Deadline: February 10, 2014

Printmaking and Drawing Entries are now being accepted for the exhibition Direct/Indirect: Small Works 2014 at Maud Morgan Arts in Cambridge. The juror is Bill Flynn. First Prize: A one-person exhibition at the Chandler Gallery. Second and Third Prizes: A free class or workshop at Maud Morgan Arts. Learn more.

Grant for Mature American Painters The Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) announces the fourth annual Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant, which provides financial backing for mature American painters (you must be over 45, no young bucks.) and demonstrate financial need.  Grants range from $5,000 to $30,000.
