Exhibition Proposals Do you have a mammoth idea for a modest sized exhibition? The Curator’s Platform at Galatea Fine Art is for you and your thought provoking proposals. They are an artist-run cooperative gallery in the heart of the SOWA art district, 460 Harrison Avenue, Boston. One month exhibition proposals for Gallery 3 will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, apply early for more scheduling options. Learn more.

Call for Artists ArtUnited, a global network of social justice artists invites painters, photographers, filmmakers and other visual artists to submit work for the Creative Disruption pop up group exhibition in Boston on September 30, 2017. The event will fuse visual art, digital installation, photography, live painting, radical poetry, music and performance in support of social causes. Submit your work around the theme of gender justice, climate justice, or racial justice. They are looking for art that is visually compelling, thought-provoking, radical, edgy, and fearless. Public Art Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, is accepting a request for qualifications for a public art commission Artwork/Environment. The committee is seeking a large interior mural, sculpture, installation public art project. The proposed site of the commissioned artwork is on the highly visible first floor atrium wall, approximately 6 feet x 45 feet. They are seeking artists who can design, in an engaging manner, innovative, thought-provoking projects that relate to the proposed space. 10 Minute Plays Submissions sought for a 10 minute play festival to be presented on December 31, 2017 during the Rockport New Year’s Eve celebration, Rockport, MA. A blind panel of judges with broad theatre experience will select 8 plays to be presented as concert readings on New Year’s Eve. Published plays are not acceptable. No musicals, no plays requiring children in the cast. Plays should be intended for a general audience. Selected plays will be videotaped and copies made available to winners upon request. Learn more.

Handmade Fiber Arts Nave Gallery in Somerville is accepting entries for their exhibition Catalyst: craft + social change. Catalyst aims to bring together examples of contemporary, handmade objects from traditional fiber art mediums such as embroidery, knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting and weaving that speak to causes such as healthcare, homelessness, politics, the environment, feminism, civil rights and more. The exhibition does not aim to endorse any particular ideologies or views, but to examine the creative ways in which craft and activism collide and the strength in their reaction. Learn more.

Visual Art on Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia If you are a visual artist making work about Alzheimer’s disease and/or dementia, you can submit work for the juried exhibition Care (Give And Take), occurring November 2017- March 2018 at the New Hope Art Gallery at the Cranston Senior Center in Rhode Island. Photographers Submissions are being accepted for the The Chelsea International Photography Competition. There are two competition categories: Amateur and Professional. Digital, analog, phone images and images taken with any camera are all accepted. Learn more.

Fellowships Fellowships of up to $77,500 each, office space at the Radcliffe Institute, and access to the libraries at Harvard University are given annually to artists in a variety of disciplines to allow them to pursue their creative projects, in the 2018/2019 academic year. Learn more.

Call to Artists The Cambridge Art Association will be accepting entries for their 2017 Blue Biennial Juried by Vera Ingrid Grant. Vera Ingrid Grant is the director of the Ethelbert Cooper Gallery of African & African American Art at the Hutchins Center, Harvard University (2012—present).  Best in Show Award, $500 – Three Juror’s Choice Awards, $150 each – Emerging Artist Award | Presented to an artist under 35, $150. Grants for Artists Creative City grants enable artists of all artistic disciplines to bring their practice into the public realm in the city of Boston. Artists must reside within I-495 in Massachusetts. Artists of all artistic discipline(s) and with roots in diverse cultures, forms and aesthetics are welcome to apply. Examples include but are not limited to dance, music, visual art, literary art, or multimedia art. Learn more.

Call to Fiber Artists  The 2017 Healing Fibers: Indigenous Art & Activism is accepting entries. Healing Fibers is an annual non-juried art exhibit and forum at the Sprinkler Factory, 38 Harlow St., Worcester, MA. The goal of this project is to discuss political, environmental, gender/identity, racial, medical, human rights and other societal issues by using fiber as a medium for each exhibit. Learn more.
