Of Note: MASSCreative is holding its inaugural Creative Advocacy Institute on Friday, May 17th from 9:30 AM to 5 PM at Merrimack Repertory Theatre and UTEC in Lowell, Massachusetts. The Creative Advocacy Institute is a statewide convening for the Massachusetts creative sector to increase advocacy learning, cultural policy leadership, and coalition building towards a more inclusive and equitable sector for all. Free Artist Roster CreativeGround, a project of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), is the free, dynamic regional directory that celebrates and reflects the vital work of New England’s artists, creatives, culture bearers, creative organizations and businesses. Sign up for CreativeGround and/or keeping your profile current to helps NEFA provide a state-wide roster of artists in all disciplines. This is an invaluable resource for companies, organizations, schools, and individuals to find and fill artistic needs.

Poets The Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowships is currently accepting applications. These $50,000 awards honor poets of literary merit appointed to serve in civic positions and to support them in creating new work, as well as to enable them to undertake meaningful, impactful, and innovative projects that enrich the lives of their neighbors, including youth, through responsive and interactive poetry activities. Sculptors Boston Sculptors Gallery is a landmark cooperative gallery, now offering three distinct opportunities to support a geographically diverse group of sculptors, from emerging artists to seasoned professionals, all working in a wide range of media. There is no fee to apply. Application is competitive and juried at all levels. Learn more.

Poetry Workshop MASS MoCA Writing Through Art Poetry Retreats is accepting applications for June and November. The 4-day and 6-day retreats welcome new and experienced poets for an immersive generative writing experience in the galleries of MASS MoCA and the Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. Call to Artists The Danforth at Framingham State University is currently accepting entries for the Danforth’s Annual Juried Exhibition,  a highly competitive exhibition open to artists 18 years and older who live or work in the New England area. Artists can submit up to three works created within the last three years. Learn more.

Poetry and Collage Residency The Poetry & Collage Residency 2024 is a four-week, virtual/online residency with Kolaj Institute. In four virtual meetings over the course of the month and through ongoing, online discussion, artists will leave the residency with a deeper understanding of the intersection of collage and poetry. Native American Art Fellowship Harpo Foundation offers a $25,000 fellowship to amplify the contributions of under-recognized Native American contemporary visual artists. The Impact Award for Native American Art aims to futher the Foundation’s mission to expand creative inquiry through inclusivity and equitable representation in visual arts. To be considered for The Impact Award, artists must submit a Grants for Visual Artists application online by April 29, 2024. Learn more.

The Grants for Visual Artists The Grants for Visual Artists award provides direct support to under-recognized artists 21 years or older. Awards are made up to $10,000. Grants are made to support the development of artists’ work; a grantee may use their award to support any activity towards that purpose. Learn more.

Call to Artists, Craft Vendors The Cambridge Arts River Festival is an annual celebration of arts, food, and culture featuring staged and roaming performances, family entertainment, interactive arts, food, and fine arts and crafts. Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Cambridge’s Memorial Drive riverfront. Food and arts vendors are invited to apply to sell their goods at the 2024 festival’s Arts Bazaar and World of Food vending areas. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, feel free to email the festival’s Vendor Coordinator, Erik Sarno at esarno@cambridgema.gov. The Arts Bazaar is a curated marketplace for a wide range of items that are representative of the many ethnic and cultural backgrounds found in Cambridge. We accept vendors who sell unique, high quality, one-of-a-kind, original and/or handmade works. Arts & crafts vendors may apply here. The World of Food is one of the most popular attractions at the festival. It features international cuisines, healthy choices, and festival favorites. We prefer vendors who sell items arranged to be served quickly and efficiently. Food vendors may apply here.

Fund for BIWOC and Femme-Expressing POC Sista Creatives Rising (SCR) is a project founded by Black, invisibly disabled mother-daughter duo Claire Jones and Amaranthia Sepia. Seven chosen artists of any medium/genre based in the US and Canada will receive a $200 microgrant. Artists must submit 2 minute videos about how funds will help. Funds can be used to help pay for expenses hindering their artistic process, or can be used directly for their art projects. They encourage artists with disabilities to apply. Learn more.

Festivals & Projects Grants The Mass Cultural Council’s Festivals & Projects provides grants of $2,500 for organizations to fund activities that provide public benefit through the use of the arts, humanities, or sciences. Learn more.

Call to Artists The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites artists to submit work for inclusion in What’s So Funny? an open juried exhibition at the Cultural Center and online at RNACexhibitions.com. The juror is Coleene Fesko. Exhibition Dates: July 11- August 25, 2024. Learn more.
