Congratulations to the 2017 awardees of the Brother Thomas Fellowships. The Brother Thomas Fund, administered by the Boston Foundation, awards unrestricted $15,000 fellowships to artists in the Boston area.

We are proud to note that this year’s Brother Thomas Fellows include past Mass Cultural Council awardees Maya Erdelyi, Patrick Gabridge, Regie Gibson, Evelyn Rydz, and Yu-Wen Wu.

The awards are part of the legacy of Brother Thomas Bezanson, a Benedictine monk whose porcelain ceramics are world-renowned for their mastery and grace. The Boston Foundation worked with Bernie and Sue Pucker from the Pucker Gallery (longtime friends of Brother Thomas) to establish the Brother Thomas Fund, creating a means to support working contemporary artists through the sale of Brother Thomas’s work.

Past Brother Thomas Fellows have included many artists who also received awards from Mass Cultural Council, including Kati Agocs, Raul Gonzalez III, Masako Kamiya, Danielle Legros Georges, and Tracy Heather Strain.
