Happy New Year! Here follows the first Fellows Notes of 2022. Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.

Congratulations to Jonathan Bailey Holland (Music Composition Fellow ’19), Fred Liang (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’08, Painting Fellow ’04), Allison Maria Rodriguez (Film & Video Finalist ’21), and Grace Talusan (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction Fellow ’02), who received 2021 Brother Thomas Fellowships. The $15,000 awards support contemporary artists through the sale of porcelain ceramics by Brother Thomas Bezanson, a Benedictine monk who wanted his world-renowned art to benefit working artists.
Michele Lauriat (Painting Fellow ’20) and Kim Carlino (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’16) join Jane Sherrill for the works on paper exhibition Passing the Edge at Fort Point Arts Community Gallery (1/6-2/24, opening reception 1/27, 5 PM ET).

Denise Bergman (Poetry Finalist ’14) joins Lloyd Schwartz for a virtual reading as part of the Rozzie Reads poetry series (1/20, 7 PM ET).
Madge Evers (Photography Finalist ’21) has a solo exhibition, Hidden Worlds: A New Herbarium at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston (thru 2/6).
Rebecca Kaiser Gibson‘ (Poetry Fellow ’08) second poetry collection Girl as Birch will be published by Bauhan Publishing.
Eben Haines (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’18), one of the 2021 James and Audrey Foster Prize Artists at the ICA/Boston, was recently featured on Open Studio with Jared Bowen on WGBH.
Joel Janowitz‘s (Painting Fellow ’16, ’08, ’79, ’75) painting series Refuge is on view at Gallery Kayafas (thru 1/22, reception 1/7, 5:30-8 PM ET).
Marky Kauffmann (Photography Fellow ’17) has photographic work in Soho Photo Gallery’s International Alternative Processes show which will run online on the Griffin Museum of Photography website (thru 2/27).
Catherine Kernan (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’16) will present an artist lecture (remote and in studio) at Shepherd & Maudsleigh Studio (1/16, 2 PM ET).
Anne Lilly‘s (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’19) painting series events in a field exhibits this month at Gallery Kayafas in Boston (thru 1/22, reception 1/7, 5:30-8 PM ET).
Melinda Lopez‘s (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’19, ’03) new play Mr. Parent, created with Maurice Emmanuel Parent, is produced by Lyric Stage Company (1/7-2/6). Read a review by WBUR’s Jacquinn Sinclair.
Wilhelm Neusser (Painting Finalist ’20) has a solo exhibition of paintings, in flux, at Galeri Knecht and Burster in Karlsruhe, Germany (1/15-3/5).
Debra Olin (Drawing & Printmaking Finalist ’18) has a solo exhibition, Every Protection, at The Museum at Eldridge Street, NYC (thru 4/24).
Astrid Reischwitz‘s (Photography Finalist ’21) series Spin Club Tapestry is the Series Category Winner of the Creative Photo Awards 2021 and received a special distinction in the LensCulture 2021 Art Photography Awards. Her solo exhibition, The Fabric of Memory is at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) in Tampa (thru 1/23).
James Rutenbeck‘s (Film & Video Finalist ’19, ’11) documentary film A Reckoning in Boston will have its national broadcast premiere on the acclaimed PBS series Independent Lens (1/17).
Nancy Selvage (Crafts Fellow ’13) has a solo exhibition, Solstice, at Boston Sculptors Gallery (12/10-1/23, receptions 12/11 4-8:30 PM ET, 1/1 3-6 PM ET, SoWa First Friday 1/7 5-8:30 PM).
Ilya Vidrin (Choreography Fellow ’20) was named a 25 to Watch for 2022 by Dance Magazine.
