Fellows Notes is a monthly listing of the latest news from awardees in our Artist Fellowships Program.
Happy New Year! Please note that due to the Governor’s recent announcement of a rollback on the state’s COVID-19 reopening schedule and other measures, you should double-check any event details with the listed venues.
With that caveat, here’s what’s happening in January:
Beth Galston (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’13), Michelle Samour (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’14), and Jenine Shereos (Crafts Fellow ’15) join Ann Wessman in the exhibition Poetic Botany: Artists and Plants, a group exhibition at Suffolk University Gallery (1/29-2/26).
Marilyn Pappas (Crafts Fellow ’07, ’97, ’81) and Jill Slosberg-Ackerman (Drawing & Printmaking Fellow ’06, Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’99) exhibit in the virtual exhibition Accompanied: The Artworks of Marilyn Pappas and Jill Slosburg-Ackerman, hosted by the Radcliffe Institute (thru 1/16). The exhibition reflects on artistic practices shaped by a decades-long friendship.

Denise Bergman (Poetry Finalist ’14) has the book launch for her poetry collection The Shape of the Keyhole, a virtual discussion with Nina MacLaughlin at Porter Square Books (1/6, 7 PM).
Steven J. Martin (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’13) was featured in the Cape Cod Times for his film Once Upon a Time in Tokyo, which he wrote and directed.
Adam Mazo (Film & Video Finalist ’17) will have a free virtual screening of Dawnland, his film with Ben Pender-Cudlip, followed by a live Q&A (1/28, 7 PM ET). Register.
Thato Mwosa (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’19) was to have an exhibition of visual art at Rooted Café at Arts at the Armory in Somerville. Due to pandemic-related restrictions, the café is closed until February, but you can read about her art here.
Monica Raymond (Dramatic Writing Fellow ’13) has an audio play, The Telemarketer, in Atlanta Fringe Audio Festival (online thru 5/24). The play was recorded in 2010 by the Shoestring Radio Players and is shared on the YouTube channel of Alan Caylow, who plays Krishna. Also, Monica Raymond published a poem, Cleft, and two prose pieces, Green Couch and Uncle Skank, in the most recent issue of the online journal Oyedrum. Green Couch and Uncle Skank are from a collaboration with photographer Fran Forman.
Daniela Rivera (Painting Fellow ’20, ’12) joins curator Leah Triplett Harrington and moderator Narayan Khandekar for a free, virtual VoCA Talk hosted by the Boston Center for the Arts (1/14, 12 PM).
Vaughn Sills (Photography Fellow ’13) has a solo exhibition, Inside Outside, at the Kingston Gallery in Boston (1/20-2/5).
Cary Wolinsky (Sculpture/Installation/New Genres Fellow ’09), along with Barbara Wolinsky, is exhibiting in More Than Portraits at the Pucker Gallery (1/16-2/28). Register for a WebinART livestream conversation 1/30, 1 PM.
