Of Note: Free admission to the Museum of Fine Arts on Memorial Day,  Monday, May 27, 2019, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. And starting on May 27, 2019, the MFA is expanding access for military families-active duty and veterans-to include year-round free admission and discounted membership.

Teaching Opportunities Follow Your Art Community Studios, a newly-formed nonprofit community arts center in Melrose, is seeking proposals from artists, writers, and all creatives for classes and workshops to begin in September. They offer classes for all ages in an artist-centered teaching environment. Classes and workshops are on a contracted basis, and paid per class hour. Learn more.

Call to Boston Artists The Square Root Cafe, 2 Corinth Street, Roslindale, had announced a call to artists for an exhibition with the theme: Big, Bold, Colorful (June 15 – July 31, 2019). For consideration: email up to 3 jpegs of work to decoupagejan@gmail.com. 2D work only (all mediums)- no larger than 36 x 40 inches – must be ready to hang with wire back.

Call to Artists The BNN Neighborhood Art Gallery at the BNN Media Center at 3025 Washington Street, Egleston Square, Boston, has announced a call to artists.Entries are being accepted for the July/August 2019 exhibition with the theme: Summer Time. For consideration: email up to 3 jpegs of work with dimensions to decoupagejan@gmail.com. 2D work only (all mediums)- no larger than 36 x 36 inches – must be ready to hang with wire back

Vermont Studio Center Residency Fellowship Vermont Studio Center (VSC) has announced 50+ new residency fellowships. All applicants will be automatically considered for one of twenty-five (25) VSC Fellowships, which are merit-based awards. They also have a number of special awards (many with stipends). Read more for a complete list of their special awards & eligibility.

Matched Savings Grant The 2019 grant opportunity for artists living in North Adams, and artists interested in moving to North Adams. It’s a $2,000 “matched savings” grant for the artist to invest in their creative practice, plus financial and business training (and those re-locating to North Adams can get an extra $500).  And re-locating couples who are both artists are both eligible to apply, so the support can be up to $5,000 for the household. Residency for Visual Artists, Writers, Poets, Musical Composers Willapa Bay AiR (located on the southwest Pacific coast of Washington state) offers month-long residencies to emerging and established visual artists, writers, poets, and musical composers. The Residency provides lodging, all meals, and work space, at no cost, to six residents each month from March 1 through September 30 of the year. Willapa Bay AiR welcomes residents from across the globe. Learn more.

“The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World” was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924.
