Center for Contemporary Printmaking Artist-in-Residence Program (AIR) This residency takes place in the Helen Frankenthaler Printmaking Cottage, and includes a full residential suite, accommodating long and short term artist residencies. Within the space artists have the opportunity to produce a body of work in a supportive atmosphere for creative growth and development —using traditional as well as innovative printmaking techniques. Call to Artists The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center invites artists to submit proposals for SculptFest24, September 7 – October 20. The theme for this year’s outdoor exhibition is Coruscation, guest curated by Colin C Boyd, Director of the Johnson Memorial Building and Exhibition Gallery for Art and Architecture Studies at Middlebury College. The Coruscation theme calls for works to “illuminate” the grounds of the Carving Studio’s Sculptfest24 through light inspired sculpture and installation. The forested footpath provides opportunities for works ranging from large installations to small. Reflective, light-capturing, and light-emitting artworks devised as literal or metaphorical luminosity are welcome. Learn more.

Muralists Request for proposals for the creation of a mural at Brookely Flats in Jamaica Plain are currently being accepted. Brookley Flats (Stonley Brookley) is an upcoming residential development in Jamaica Plain, MA, aimed at providing affordable, sustainable housing. The development will feature 45 income-restricted homeownership units, including five artist live-work units. A significant element of this project is the inclusion of a large mural on the stair tower, reflecting the community’s values and artistic vibrancy. Artist Capacity Building Grants The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts (CFWM) is excited to launch its next round of Capacity-Building Grants. This grant opportunity is funded by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts’ ValleyCreates Program and is administered by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists (A4A) program. The focus is a capacity-building and sustainability initiative for artists who currently live or have studio space in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties in Massachusetts. The program pairs a $2,500 grant with coaching, workshops, business/career building and personal financial literacy resources, and artist community-building. After being accepted into the program, grantees complete a brief onboarding call to learn more about the resources available to them. Learn more.

This exhibition invites visitors to explore the profound subtleties and striking complexities of white – both as a color and a concept. Call for Art Gallery 263 invites artists based in the United States to submit to “Future Craft,” an exhibition highlighting the ingenuity and relevance of craft and design in contemporary art. This show is juried by artist, gallerist, and educator Kendall Reiss. Call for Artists and Scientists Expert Pairings invites artists and scientists to explore the ecology of Watertown and collaborate on temporary public artwork. Artists and scientists can submit qualifications individually or as a pair. Individuals will be paired so that each Expert Pairing features one artist and one scientist as lead collaborators. Together, this interdisciplinary team will create an educational, temporary, outdoor installation in Watertown, MA focused on edible plants, local ecology, or other topics of environmental resiliency that may be found in the Resilient Watertown Climate and Energy Plan.
