The Flaherty Film Seminar (June 13 – 19, 2020) takes place at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Basketry Art The National Basketry Organization has announced their 2nd in-print, biennial exhibition. Works selected will be published in the Summer 2020 edition of Basketry +, NBO’s full-color magazine. This year’s theme is Pattern & Texture, defined as a work of basketry that, in some way, celebrates pattern and texture. The exhibit is open to all members of the National Basketry Organization, including International and Friend members, at the time of the entry due date. Of Note The NEW ENGLAND EAST: Playwrights’ Panel on Self Production, hosted by Dramatists Guild of America, is a free, 90-minute session about playwrights producing their own work. Panelists – including Patrick Gabridge (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’17, ’15) and Cassie Seinuk (Dramatic Writing Finalist ’17) – will discuss their experiences, including the legal and financial issues involved in producing your own work, and will be able to answer questions from attendees. Call for Exhibition Proposals ArtsWorcester member-curated exhibitions offer artist members an opportunity to propose, curate, and install an exhibition of 10-14 two-dimensional works. These shows must feature more than one artist. These exhibitions are an opportunity to pilot an artistic idea, and to gain experience with the curation and production of an exhibition with the help of ArtsWorcester staff. Learn more.

Of Note The Dramatists Guild of America has announced a new program, End of Play, designed to engage playwrights across the country by working with them to create a brand-new play, or revise an old one. In the spirit of National Novel Writing Month, writers who participate in the End of Play initiative will set a goal for themselves at the beginning of March, and then post weekly updates to their community regarding their progress. Call for Art The Rochester Contemporary Art Center is accepting submissions to its international small art exhibition, 6x6x2020. The exhibition features 6×6 art in any medium. It’s completely free to submit, artists can enter up to three artworks, the only stipulation is that they are 6 inches square. Learn more.

Call for Art Entries are currently being accepted for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts exhibition Arts in Bloom. Up to three artworks that have not been shown at HCA may be submitted. All 2D media may be entered, including photos, fiber art, and digital art. The work must be wired for hanging. Maximum height and width for framed wall hung work is 40 inches. Learn more.

Public Artists The Public Art Learning Fund provides small grants of $500 to $2,000 to support professional development opportunities for New England artists to strengthen their public art practices. Through the Public Art Learning Fund, NEFA intends to foster the continued development of more equitable, inclusive, and vibrant public spaces and public life throughout New England. New Play Award Barrington Stage is now accepting submissions for its 2020 New Play Award. Playwrights can submit an unproduced and unpublished play for the $25,000 award, which includes a staged reading at Barrington Stage and a possible future production. Emerging Artists This call is for a group exhibition for self-defined emerging alumn from the Vermont Studio Center, to run from July 26 – September 26, 2020.
