Of Note The New England Consortium of Artist-Educator Professionals is sponsoring convenings with national arts education researcher and author Nick Rabkin. Nick will review and discuss the policy implications of his study, the Teaching Artist Research Project, at Rhode Island Foundation in Providence (11/8, 4-6 PM) and Lesley University in Cambridge (11/9, 2-4 PM).

Photography The Houston Center for Photography is currently accepting entries for their 2013 Fellowship program juried by W.M. Hunt, Collector, Curator, and Consultant. Learn more.

Film The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival is seeking films with Jewish content and characters in the following categories: Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Feature, and Documentary Short. Learn more.

Sculptor Residency The Sculpture Space located in Utica, New York invites artists whose focus is sculpture to apply for a two-month residency between September 2013 and August 2014. Eighteen to twenty residents are selectively chosen each year; a stipend of $2000 is awarded to offset costs (dependent on funding). They offer a 5500 square foot shared studio with specialized equipment in addition to two private studios. Learn more.

Cape Cod Artists The Town of Barnstable is accepting applications for artists and artisans interested in participating in the 2013 Harbor Your Arts shanty program. The shanties are located in Bismore Park at 180 Ocean Street, Hyannis. For more information, contact Melissa Hersh, Arts and Culture Coordinator, 508-862-4767. Learn more.

LGBTQ One-Act Plays Outworks, a festival of LGBTQ themed one-act plays produced by Louisiana State University Department of Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA is currently accepting entries. Scripts must be LGBTQ themed one-act plays between 20-30 minutes long. Six winners will receive $150 each, three staged performances, and production videotape. Two submissions per playwright. Submit scripts in MS Word or PDF format by e-mail with “Outworks 2013” in the subject line. NOTE: Electronic submissions only. NO FEE. Printmakers The Los Angeles Printmaking Society is accepting entries for their 21st National Exhibition. There will be a minimum of $3,000 in prizes and a free year of membership in LAPS for participating artists as well a full catalog. Learn more.
