Visual Artist Residency The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown is accepting applications for their residency program. Each year, the Work Center offers 20 seven-month residencies to a juried group of emerging visual artists, fiction writers, and poets. Each Fellow receives an apartment, a studio (for visual artists), and a monthly stipend of $1,250 plus an exit stipend of $1,000. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. During this time, Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. Learn more.

Weir Farm Artist-In-Residence Program The 2023 Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program at Weir Farm NHP selects artists to spend up to one month living and working at the park. Visual artists apply for residencies in all media and diverse artistic points of view from traditional to experimental. Building on the inspiring artistic legacy of Julian Alden Weir, Weir Farm NHP provides support to working artists, through a residency program with housing and studio space provided. Artists will also receive a stipend of $100 per week for the duration of their residency. Artists are chosen through an annual call-for-application followed by a competitive jury process. Following their residencies, artists have the option to participate in in the Artist-in-Residence Alumni Program which is managed by the WFAA. Learn more.

Cultural Investment Grants The Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture is currently accepting Letter of Inquiry (LOI) submissions for the City of Boston’s new Cultural Investment Grants. The Cultural Investment Grant aims to grow and sustain arts and cultural organizations that have a clear vision of a creative, equitable, and more just city. The intention is to build capacity for organizations working with communities in Boston who have been most harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly communities of color. Grants range from $600,000 to $3 million depending on organizations’ budget sizes and will be distributed over a four-year period. The program is making a total investment of $10 million through funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Organizations that meet the eligibility criteria are invited to submit a Letter of Inquiry. Learn more.

Watercolors The Springfield Art Museum in Missouri has announced a call for entries for Watercolor USA 2023, highlighting the very best in contemporary American watermedia. This year’s exhibit will run from June 10 through September 3, 2023. Organized in 1962, this year marks the 62nd year of Watercolor USA. The nationally known exhibition is open to artists from all 50 states and U.S. territories, and seeks to discover what is new and what is next in the world of American watermedia. This year’s exhibit will be judged by prolific watercolorist Keiko Tanabe, AWS, NWS, AIS, LPAPA. Approximately $20,000 in cash prizes, artist materials, and possible Museum purchase awards are available. Top awards include the $3,000 Kenneth M. Shuck Memorial Award, the $2,000 Greg G. Thielen Memorial Award, the $1,500 Bill Armstrong Memorial Award, and the $1,000 Robert E. Goodier Memorial Award For Traditional Transparent Watercolor, among others. Muralists Murals in Motion is Allston Village Main Streets’ newest program that will partner small business owners with local artists, coordinate the design and painting process, and partially to fully subsidize the cost of storefront murals for the businesses. They will be able to pay for 100% of murals up to $1,000, and 50% of murals up to $2,000. Prices depend on the size of the mural. Learn more.
