Short Films and Animations Glovebox at Midway Studios in Boston is now taking submissions for short films and animations for its first ever film festival in February 2011. $20 submission fee. Read more

Poets The Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s 4th Annual National and Regional Poetry Competition
is now accepting submissions. This year’s judge is Gerald Stern. Learn more.

Filmmakers Boston Cinema Census has a call open for their annual submissions to the 10th BCC hosted by the Brattle Theatre. The BCC is a carefully curated annual showcase of the most interesting and innovative works produced by local emerging filmmakers.
Deadline: February 15, 2011

Filmmakers WGBH Lab has an open call. Five chosen shorts will earn a $1000 prize and a winning story that may air along with the television debut of Stonewall Uprising on American Experience.

Playwrights Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble is looking for plays for next season’s production. The company is especially interested in submissions by female playwrights. New work is preferred, but they will consider previously produced plays. Send an e-mail with play development history, cast list, play synopsis, and first 15 pages of script only. Playwrights Revolving Stages has a call out for 10 minutes plays by black playwrights reflecting experiences of the global African diaspora for staged readings at the Harlem YMCA’s Little Theatre. Playwrights must select their own director or direct or read their own plays. Limit of 1-3 characters.
