Strength of character and defiance toward injustice have long been characteristic to this region.

Photographers Entries are now being accepted for the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) 2013 International Juried Competition. This year’s jurors are Holly Harrison, L.A. County Museum of Art, and Rex Bruce, L.A. Center for Digital Art. Entrants submit three JPEG files of original work. All styles of artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. Learn more.

Picture Book Illustration The Danforth Museum’s annual juried show of picture book illustration is currently accepting submissions. The juror is Joann Hill, Art Director at Disney-Hyperion Books. Learn more.

Senior Poets The City of Boston’s Elderly Commission’s Seniority Magazine is seeking original poems by individuals 60 and over for its June issue. Please e-mail your submission of up to three poems to bostonseniority@cityofboston.gov.

Call for Art The Cloud Project invites US artists to submit work for consideration to the inaugural 2013 Cloud Prize. Adelina Vlas, Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, will review all completed submissions and will choose one to three recipients of an award worth up to $500. Call for Artists Entries are now being accepted for Visual Harvest: Off the Truck and on the Wall, a juried art exhibit at Mass Audubon’s Moose Hill Gallery. This year’s juror is Diana Hampe, BU Teaching staff, Masters of Arts Program. The exhibit will open in June through mid September. Any medium is acceptable. Outdoor temporary artwork is encouraged and will be displayed on our grounds. The criteria for choosing the artist will include treatment of the subject matter, its relevance to nature, command of their individual craft and the ability to engage the viewer. Submit up to 5 images in photo format only (not matted or framed) for judging purposes only (minimum size 8” x10” up to 11” x 14”). All prints must be labeled on the back with name, contact information, dimensions of framed work, title of piece and medium. If selected for a show, all artwork needs to be framed appropriately and ready to hang (detailed information available upon request). Please provide stamped return envelope and include entry fee of $15 for up to 5 images. Submissions can be dropped off at the Nature Center or mailed to: Jan Nareski Goba, 293 Moose Hill St, Sharon, MA 02067. Contact Jan Goba at jngoba@massaudubon.org for any questions.

Drawing Entries are now being accepted for the Boston Center for the Arts 23rd Drawing Show: Drawing Connections. This year’s exhibition curator and juror is James Hull. Exhibition dates: July 12 – September 15, 2013 at the Mills Gallery at the BCA. Learn more.
