Call to Fenway Artists Fenway CDC is looking for an artist to design and paint the Fenway Little Free Library, to be installed in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston this spring. Submit your design ideas for the little library’s pre-assembled structure. Artist Residency The Pao Arts Center’s 2021 Residence Lab Application is now open. Residence Lab is a partnership between BCNC’s Pao Arts Center and Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) to empower and train artists and residents to collectively preserve the Chinatown community through creative and artistic space activation. Through site-specific installations, Residence Lab will activate underutilized public/third spaces in Chinatown, transforming these sites into tools for public stories that uplift the narratives, culture, and character of Boston’s Chinatown. Artist Residencies The historic brick floor, stunning copper dome, and skylight in Boston Center for the Arts’ Cyclorama have set the stage for hundreds of Boston’s most innovative events. The BCA is offering five five-day residencies to individuals and small groups of artists to create a site-responsive work in the historic space. The residency includes video documentation of the process that will be shared with audiences. The work can be performative and/or visual in nature and is meant to activate artists, audiences, and the BCA’s spaces. Although residents can focus on the presentation of a completed piece, the intention of the ACTivate Residency is to open up space for deep exploration of an idea or concept over the course of the residency. ACTivate is open to self-identified BIPOC visual, performing, and interdisciplinary artists and their collaborators. Learn more.

Textile-Based Art The Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton has issued an open call to artists for the exhibition Peacework 2020: Racial Justice Through Protest and Handwork. Artists, crafters, and makers throughout the U.S. working in the traditional fiber arts, including those working with yarn, embroidery, cross-stitch, quilting, felting, rug hooking, paper, basketry, and other fiber media, are encouraged to apply. Studio Residency The Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) cross- and multidisciplinary studio residency program is designed to foster and support access, equity and experimentation in the arts and in new art being created in Boston. The program provides selected artists with work-only studio space and access to a roster of programs and professional support geared towards nurturing a vibrant and diverse community of artists in Boston. Research Grants in the Arts Guidelines are now available for two funding programs offered through the National Endowment for the Arts’ Office of Research & Analysis: Research Grants in the Arts funds research studies that investigate the value and/or impact of the arts, either as individual components of the U.S. arts ecology or as they interact with each other and/or with other domains of American life. Matching/cost share grants of $10,000 to $100,000 will be awarded. And NEA Research Labs funds transdisciplinary research teams grounded in the social and behavioral sciences, yielding empirical insights about the arts for the benefit of arts and non-arts sectors alike. Artist Residency Proposals The Brookline Arts Center is seeking proposals for a 12-week artist residency in their historic firehouse turned arts center in Brookline, MA. One dynamic solo artist or small collaborative group will have the opportunity to experiment and grow their body of work with the support of the BAC. Artist(s) selected will design, create and exhibit an installation or series of work in their unique gallery space.
