Of Note The LEF Foundation, which funds New England nonfiction filmmakers, is hosting a Moving Image Fund grant workshop for new prospective applicants on Tuesday, December 9 at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Learn more and RSVP.

Filmmakers Entries are now being accepted for the Dallas International Film Festival (April 9-19, 2015, Dallas, TX) – Categories include: Narrative Feature Competition, Documentary Feature Competition, Texas Feature Competition, Shorts Competition, Animation Competition and there are several awards including an Audience Awards series. Public Artists The PIPELINE Ideas Competition is seeking an artist to re-use massive water pump wheels and components for functional items like seating or bike racks, way-finding and signage, or sculpture in a new park overlooking the Charles River in Medfield, MA. The winning entry receives $1,000. All that’s needed is a sketch and a description! The final budget and schedule for fabrication and installation will be contingent upon agreement with the artist. Artist Residency The Luminary Residency Program in  St. Louis, Missouri is currently accepting applications. Their Residency Program supports exceptional emerging artists, curators and critics engaging the world of contemporary art by providing dedicated time and a supportive working environment. The program is open to all artistic, curatorial and critical practices but uniquely supports the research, development and presentation of work that utilizes innovative forms and unconventional structures such as alternative spaces and economies, publications and writing, archives, collaborations, artist-led projects and socially engaged practices. Learn more.

LGBT Filmmakers The Boston LGBT Film Festival (April 2015, Cambridge, MA) – The largest, longest running LGBT media event in New England seeks films about topics of interest to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community in the following categories: Documentary Feature, Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, and Experimental. Learn more.

Call for Student Art The Copley Society’s 25th Annual Student Show is a juried exhibition open to all art students in New England, aged 18 and over and enrolled full-time in a studio arts program at the undergraduate or graduate level. The jury will consider work from all genres and medias including photography, painting, print-making, video, and sculpture from  artists age 18 and over, enrolled full-time in a studio arts program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Learn more.
