Webinars with Arts Administrators Arts Administration Association New England is holding a series of “Sip and Chat” webinars with arts administrators from the region. The next discussions are July 9, 2020, 4 PM, featuring Kaveh Mojtabai (Founder and Publisher, Artscope Magazine), Debra Cash (Executive Director, Boston Dance Alliance), and Jennifer Ritvo Hughes (Executive Director, Boston Baroque); and July 16, 2020, 4 PM, featuring Michael Bobbitt (Artistic Director, New Repertory Theater), Temple Gil (Director of Public Affairs and Strategic Partnerships Huntington Theater), and Robert Pape (Executive Director, Boston Musica Viva).

Call to Artists, Writers The Hopkinton Arts Center is accepting submissions for their online exhibition About What’s Going On. Visual art and written texts (maximum 100 words), commentary in any form that can be appreciated online is welcome. Since viewers will access the show online only, please be certain that your work can be clearly seen on a computer or cell phone screen. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People’s Choice winners will be announced August 1, 2020. A Call for Artists, Musicians, Poets & Writers The Amherst Center Cultural District is sponsoring a contest for artists in all mediums to express their responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of $4000 in cash and gift certificates will be distributed to winners in various categories. Your artistic entry can be in any medium as long as it conveys your response to COVID-19. They highly encourage artists who identify as people of color, LGBTQIA+, disabled or from a minority or underrepresented demographic to apply. To be eligible, an artist must work or have worked in Amherst, and/or your creative work has been exhibited or performed in Amherst. Learn more.

Call to Artists Augusta Savage Gallery in Amherst, MA, will host Breathing While Black, a juried digital visual art exhibition, during the fall 2020. The gallery has a history of enlightening viewers on such social concerns as race, ethnicity, class, and cultural identity. No submission fees. Learn more.

Artist Mentorship Program Zea Mays Printmaking is offering a unique opportunity for artists seeking to deepen their artistic practice while developing their printmaking skills. The Artist Mentorship Program (AMP) pairs each participating artist with a Zea Mays Printmaking faculty member who serves as their Primary Mentor. Working closely together on a self-designed course, the mentor is there to guide the artist through technical and conceptual challenges, helping refine the artist’s eye and skill. Regardless of age, experience and past art training, the Artist Mentorship Program (AMP) is open to all artists who wish to engage in a sustained studio experience designed to sharpen their abilities as artists and as printmakers. Call to Pioneer Valley Artists The Hosmer Gallery at Forbes Library in Northampton welcomes anyone living and making visual art in the Pioneer Valley to submit up to 3 digital images of their work for inclusion in the online exhibit. This exhibit will grow until the library building reopens, and stay visible for at least a month after that. Learn more.

What articles have you found insightful in forming your practice and activism for the arts and culture sector? What dialogues have you been privy to around the cultural impacts of the Black Lives Matter movement, and ways to use your creative work to support social justice? Let them know.
