Poetry The Frost Place Dartmouth Poet-In-Residence Award is accepting entries. A prize of $2,000 and a six- to eight-week residency at Robert Frost’s former home in Franconia, New Hampshire, is given annually to a poet who has published at least one poetry collection. The winner is also invited to participate in a regional reading series. Learn more. Questions, contact frost@frostplace.org

Poetry New American Press is accepting entries for their New American Poetry Prize. A prize of $1,000 and publication by New American Press is given annually for a poetry collection. Jillian Weise will judge the entries. Learn more. Questions, contact david@newamericanpress.com.

Women Fiction Writers The Barbara Deming Memorial Fund is offering grants of up to $1,500 to feminist writers who are citizens of the United States or Canada. The current round of grants will be awarded to fiction writers. Submit three copies of a short story or novel excerpt of up to 20 pages, a project description, a budget, and a résumé with a $25 entry fee. Learn more.

Young Sculptors Nominations are being accepted for the International Sculpture Center Award Competition for Young Sculptors. Students who are interested should talk to their professors about getting involved. Learn more. Questions, contact studentawards@sculpture.org

Painting Commission The Rhode Island State Council On the Arts, on behalf of the RI Gubernatorial Portrait Commission, seeks an artist to paint the official state portrait of Governor Lincoln D. Chafee. A commission of up to $15,000.00 (inclusive of all costs and expenses) will be awarded to the winning artist. Learn more.

Moving Images and Visual Arts On February 3, 2014, Creative Capital will begin accepting online Letters of Inquiry for awards in Moving Image and Visual Arts. The Inquiry Form will be open until  Creative Capital seeks to support work that is artistically rigorous, articulates an original vision, takes risks and has the potential for great impact. Deadline: February 28, 2014 (4:00pm EST)

NPR is asking for stories about rural America (50-250 words.) A new program on NPR is interested in hearing real stories from rural people about rural places. The State of the Re: Union will profile small towns and communities by attempting to get to the heart of what it means to live in rural America. Learn more.
