Musical Theater The York Theatre Company Developmental Reading Series is now accepting musicals. They aim to be a birthplace for new literate, intimate musicals and to provide support for the creators of new musical theatre. Submit completed script, as well as a sound recording of all or most of the songs. No fee. Filmmakers Women in Adventure Sports Film Festival (September 21-22, 2011, Boston, MA)  is seeking films that focus on women adventurers in fields such as climbing, mountain biking, trekking, surfing, snowboarding, etc, that project intimacy and passion for the sport as well as insight into the women who practice the sport. Films do not need to be recent; any films made during the past ten years are acceptable. No fee. Submit films and inquiries to Kevin Shea.

Call to Artists 9th Annual Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition is now accepting applications for an art exhibition scheduled October 18 – November 5, 2011 at the Ames Mansion Museum, Borderland State Park, North Easton, MA. Call to Artists Northampton Arts Council and the city of Northampton invite Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Berkshire county artists to submit an entry for the exhibition Follow the River. Curator David Teeple is seeking artists whose work engages, inspires, and celebrates the life-affirming properties of water, while also addressing the water challenges facing the planet. All two and three-dimensional media in any style (abstract, conceptual, representational, etc.) as well as video and performing arts will be considered. Learn more.

Guggenheim Fellowships Applications are now being accepted for the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation’s Guggenheim Fellowships. The fellowships are intended for people who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts.

Call to Artists The South Shore Arts Center invites artists to submit entries to their national call to artists for the exhibition Wax-Inc. Work must incorporate the use of wax or the encaustic process. The show’s juror is Brian T. Allen, Director, Addison Gallery of Art. Learn more.
