There’s plenty to go around for everyone.

Choreographers AS220/95 Empire Dance Works in Process (Providence, RI) are looking for merging and established choreographers to show work at various stages of development in an informal setting. All styles welcome! Participating artists will have the opportunity to ask the audience specific questions and will receive written feedback from audience members following the showing. Dance Works in Process is a non-curated event and applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. A $15 non-refundable registration fee is payable by cash or check made out to AS220. Choreographers The application deadline for the aMaSSiT co-mentoring Lab has been extended. The mentors will include Diane Arvanites, Brian Feginbaum, Tommy Neblett and Peter DiMuro. aMaSSiT is a choreographic/production laboratory and is open to those interested in choreographing, performing, production, producing, pr/marketing and audience engagement. Call for Public Artists The Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) is seeking artists interested in planning, designing, and creating public art for the BCA plaza. This project will provide the unique opportunity to create permanent outdoor artworks in the vibrant South End art community. Request for Qualifications for a $20,000 Public Art Planning Grant are now being accepted. The estimated project commission is $150,000 – 200,000. Learn more.

Visual Artists The Nave Gallery (Somerville, MA) invites artists to participate in the juried exhibition Reliquary. Briefly stated, a reliquary is a container that holds or displays something sacred. Artwork is sought that plays on the concepts of enclosure, concealment, display, sacred and/or profane. Ties to the concept of home or shelter are encouraged. Visual artists working in all 2-D and 3-D media (including video and installation) are accepted. Learn more.

MCC Drawing, Poetry, Traditional Arts Fellowships Applications for the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Artist Fellowship program (that’s us here at ArtSake) are now being accepted from Massachusetts residents only for drawing, poetry and traditional arts. Fellows awards are $10,000 and finalists awards are $500. Learn more.

Encaustic Artists MassWax, the Massachusetts chapter of International Encaustic Artists (IEA), has announced a call for entries for ONE X ONE: A Tribute to the Human Spirit, on the theme of what constitutes the human spirit (the exhibition is inspired by the tragic events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon). Artists are asked to submit 1’X1′ artwork panels, using encaustic as their primary medium. Panels will be selected for individual display and/or inclusion in a collective installation, at Athan’s European Bakery & Café in Brookline. Submit up to three JPEGs. Local Cultural Council Grants Applicants may apply to the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s LCC Program for funding for artist projects or other cultural activities, based on local priorities and needs. Learn more.

Of Note The Digital Public Library’s DPLAfest 2013 — a two-day series of events free and open to the public — will include a reception at the Boston Public Library on the evening of Thursday, October 24 (the reception had been originally planned for April 18, 2013, but was postponed in light of the tragic Boston Marathon bombings on April 15). On Friday, October 25, participants will gather at Northeastern University and the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) for a full day of workshops, discussions, and other hands-on activities.
