Artist Opportunities for Obligate Carnivores

Awaken, you art-making tiger, you. And take a bite out of these artist opportunities.

Call to Artists Provincetown’s newest gallery, the Larkin Gallery, is seeking additional artists to feature in its gallery and its sister gallery, the Post Office Gallery. All media considered. For the Post Office Gallery, a sculptor is sought in particular to show in their outdoor gardens. The Larkin Gallery is located at 405 Commercial St. in Provincetown. Photographers The Danforth Museum of Art celebrates contemporary photography through a highly selective exhibition of photographers who live or work in New England. This year’s New England Photography Biennial, juried by George Slade, Curator and Program Manager of the Photographic Resource Center in Boston, will showcase work by both established and emerging artists. Drawing Show Call for applications for Residue, The Boston Center for the Arts 22nd Drawing Show, October 14 – November 27, 2011, curated by Steve Holmes. Proposals are welcome from all artists and designers who explore drawing as a medium in their work. Learn more.

Textile Innovators Stonehill College Cushing-Martin Gallery is accepting submissions for a student-curated exhibition. The exhibit theme is a re-interpretation of the landscape through the use of textiles, fabric, and/or materials/techniques such as thread, knitting, and crocheting. Artwork can be any media, and wall-based, sculptural, or site-specific. Artists may submit a specific project proposal that responds to the Stonehill College campus landscape as long as there are prior supporting images included in the submission. Send CD of 20 images (300 dpi), artist statement and resume, and cover letter with explanation of how work fits within theme to: Candice Smith Corby, Cushing-Martin Gallery Director, Stonehill College, 320 Washington Street, Easton, MA 02357.

Call for Craft Artists Applications are now being accepted for CraftBoston Spring and CraftBoston Holiday 2012. There is only one application for both 2012 shows. Visit the online application, or craftboston.org. Contact: Sarah Cunningham.

Call to Artists The South Yarmouth Library is looking for local artists to display their work on the library’s Art Wall. Every month, one artist has the opportunity to display their work in the library’s public reading room. The wall space is approximately 20 feet long and 5 feet in height. 312 Old Main St. in South Yarmouth. Contact: Toby Wilson at 508-760-4820 x1317.

New Venue for Performers A new performing space has opened in Lee, Massachusetts. The venue is the former St. George’s Church, now called the Spectrum Theatre. The space has state of the art lighting and sound systems, an historic pipe organ and a stage. Suitable for concerts, theatre and musical events of all types. Perfect for an ongoing musical series. The venue can also be used for lectures, poetry salons, readings, and plays. Seating for 130. Available June 2011. Sliding scale fee for use of space. Contact: Kristen van Ginhoven.
