Call to Artists The city of Pittsfield is looking for artists for the Pittsfield Paintbox Program which is intended to bring paintings to the streets’ utility boxes (load centers). Artists will transform the typically drab electrical boxes, increasing the vibrancy of the artful streetscape. Participating Paintbox artists may receive a $400 stipend ($150 supply stipend upon acceptance of their designs + $250 stipend upon completion of their boxes). Learn more.

Call for Artists, Musicians, Performers The Somerville Arts Council and Greg Cook, the fellow behind last year’s “Pity Party,” are looking for your help for the “Tiny Tall Ships Festival” in Union Square on the afternoon of May 14 (rain date May 15). The festival is a celebration of everything tiny and nautical. Seeking artists to make small ships, sea monsters, mermaids, icebergs, submarines, whales and other floating sculptures to float in lots of kiddie pools and/or race in a temporary lagoon; bands and DJs to play nautical/pirate/mermaid tunes; crafters who make things on these themes who would like to sell their crafts. Call to Artists The Brush Art Gallery and Studios, in partnership with Lowell National Historical Park, invites artists to enter their national juried exhibition, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the National Park Service. Public Art Funding The Harvard-Allston Public Realm Flexible Fund supports projects in Allston/Brighton that enhance the public realm and for which public sources of financing may be unavailable or inadequate. Projects may include improvements in public parks and open space, neighborhood beautification, streetscape improvements, public safety projects, and public art, including functional art such as benches or bike racks.
