Of Note: Join Mass Cultural Council on this Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 11:00 am, for a virtual celebration of our sector and the public investments made into arts and culture throughout FY26. All Mass Cultural Council grant recipients, Local Cultural Council and Tribal Cultural Council members, Cultural District representatives, and cultural sector stakeholders are invited to join Agency staff for this event. The virtual event will include brief remarks by Mass Cultural Council leadership and some of our partners in state government and the cultural sector, as well as a performance by Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson and the 2026 Poetry Out Loud Massachusetts Champion, Nia Cao. Call for Participation FIGMENT Boston is a free, participatory arts festival that invites people of all ages to play, engage, and make. This event blurs the line between creator and audience, artist and non-artist. Saturday July 25 from 11am – 6pm, Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park at Assembly Square in Somerville, MA. Learn more.

Call for Artists Barn Door Gallery in Northampton is accepting submissions for the 2027 gallery season. The Barn Door Gallery supports NCFA’s mission to foster community connections through the arts, and is a dedicated venue for evolving, transformative dialogue between artists and audiences. Call to Artists Create Cool Spot shade structures for Cambridge Budgets up to $95,000
The City of Cambridge is seeking qualified artists, designers, and artist-led interdisciplinary teams to create Cool Spots: temporary, site-responsive shade structures that provide heat relief, foster community gathering, and spark public imagination regarding climate resilience. Each selected artist or team will receive a budget of $80,000 to $95,000, inclusive of all costs from design through final installation. Learn more.

Call for Submissions As the city rethinks how memory shows up in public space, Boston Art Review is continuing its work as the editorial partner of the City of Boston’s Un-monument | Re-monument | De-monument initiative. They’re now accepting submissions for the second year of the project and inviting writers, artists, researchers, poets, journalists, storytellers, and community members to help shape the public conversation around memory, monuments, memorials, civic space, and commemorative acts. Call to Artists The Milford Cultural Council (MCC) is seeking designs for three picnic tables to be creatively painted in a patriotic theme to commemorate America 250. Each winning artist will be awarded a $500 stipend courtesy of Milford’s Italian American World War Veterans of the U.S. Post 40 (ITAM). The completed tables will be placed under the pavilion at Milford’s ITAM Veterans Hall, just steps off the Upper Charles Trail at 4 Hayward Field, in time for Labor Day. Student, amateur, and professional artists are invited to submit designs for this addition to the Milford Cultural Council’s ongoing Brush to Table public art project. Learn more.

Call for Exhibition Proposals The Cooper Center and the Department of Arts and Culture invite individual artists or artist teams to apply to display their work in the Cooper Center Gallery Program. Selected artists will have the opportunity to contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Newton by sharing their creativity in this lively public space. Exhibits at the Cooper Center run for three months, and artwork is expected to remain on display for the entire three-month period.The upcoming Call for Art will cover the exhibition period that runs from September 1 through November 27, 2026.  Learn more.

Northampton Print & Book Fair (NPBF) This year’s fair will take place on Saturday, October 10th, 11am-5pm at 33 Hawley in Northampton. NPBF focuses on showcasing original works of individual artists from across Western MA and throughout New England who incorporate publishing into their art practice as well as publishers of art-related printed matter and art objects. Artists Professional Development Assets for Artists July and August workshops are completely free and open to artists of all disciplines who are based in New England. Upcoming workshops include: Power of Websites with Jessica Burko, Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 6-8PM. Whether you have an existing site or you’re developing one for the first time, this workshop covers essential principles of design, organization, and usability for boldly sharing your work with the world. This workshop is best-suited for 2D & 3D visual artists. 40 participants max.  Basic Taxes for Creatives with Akeem Davis, Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 6-8PM. In this workshop, tax professional Akeem Davis will delve into the basics of taxes, with emphasis on the specific intricacies of filing as a creative professional. Suitable for artists in all disciplines. 100 participants max.

First Peoples Fund’s Artist in Business Leadership Fellowship supports independent Native artists who leverage artmaking to build or grow a business to support themselves and their families. This self-directed year-long fellowship includes network-building opportunities, professional development guidance, and grant funding for business needs. As part of the application process, artists submit a proposal of what, if selected, they would accomplish during their fellowship year that will help them launch, grow, and/or sustain their arts business. Artists accepted into the program receive a $10,000 grant to be used towards their proposed activities. Learn more.

Call to Artists Art Fluent invites artists to submit artwork to their online exhibit, HER.SELF.
The feminine spirit cannot be contained by a single definition. It is layered and luminous. We invite artwork that honors women in all their complexities… her presence, her resilience, her beauty, her becoming. Show us HER.SELF as you see her. Over $1,200 in cash prizes. First Peoples Fund’s Cultural Capital Fellowship is a yearlong program that provides $10,000 grants to Native artists who have strong community ties and are dedicated to preserving and transmitting ancestral traditions. This fellowship is open to artists at any stage of their career. Learn more.

Southern New England Apprenticeship Program The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History announces its Southern New England Apprenticeship Program (SNEAP) is now open for applications. SNEAP helps communities preserve their cultural knowledge by supporting teaching relationships between a mentor and apprentice. The program provides funding to cross-state apprenticeship teams from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Connecticut. The apprenticeship award tends to be around $3000, no more than $5000 and no less than $2000. Learn more.
