Professional Development Series The Danforth Museum has teamed up with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston to bring you three series of expert classes called Get the Right Tools, Promote Your Work, & Sell Your Work which is designed to help you push your art career to the next level. Filmmakers Central Productions is currently seeking short film submissions for the 11th Annual Boston Cinema Census, an annual screening event hosted by the historic Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The films presented at the BCC span the interests of narrative, documentary and experimental film. It is a vehicle for regional filmmakers to demonstrate their place in the local filmmaking community and an opportunity for audiences to experience current trends in local filmmaking. Learn more.

Visual artists Northeastern University’s English Graduate Student Association is seeking work for display at the EGSA Graduate Student Conference (March 15-17). The theme for the conference (and exhibited work) is “Alt,” suggesting non-normative ways of engaging with and inhabiting the world. The conference is seeking art exploring “alterity” in subjects, materials, and/or processes. Undergraduate, graduate, and non-student artists creating 2-D work and 3-D work that can be hung on a wall should send submissions including an image of the work, the title, media, dimensions, and artist’s contact information, by email.

Clay Art America’s ClayFest at Gladding McBean at the CLAY FACTORY in Lincoln California; (formerly known as Feats of Clay). This year’s juror is Richard Shaw.  Art show and competition: April 20–May 28. Learn more.

3D Small Works The Chandler Gallery at 20 Sacramento Street, Cambridge, MA 02138 invites Boston area artists to submit work for an exhibition of small sculptural and dimensional works juried by Annette Lemieux, artist and senior lecturer, Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University. New England Playwrights Vagabond Theatre Company’s next “There Will Be Words” event is Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 PM at Trident Booksellers & Café, and the company is currently accepting new short and full-length plays by New England playwrights to be rehearsed and then have a reading. Email plays in PDF format, with bio and synopsis in the body of the email. Learn more.

Visual Artists Visual artists are invited to apply to exhibit and sell work at the 2013 Pikes Peak Arts Fest in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado, from Friday, July 5th to Sunday, July 7th, 2013. Learn more.

Choral Compositions The Boston Choral Ensemble is soliciting manuscripts for unaccompanied choral works under 10 minutes in length for their commission competition. The texts may be sacred or secular and in any language. Composers may submit up to three different works. The winner will receive a prize of $1,500. Questions, email the competition coordinator.
