Call for Art Gallery X in New Bedford has announced an open community art show. Artists can submit 1 piece of art or (2 smaller ones as long as the total space is no larger than 3×3 ft.). The curators are Chuck Hauck and John Neiman. Learn more.

Creative Nonfiction and Poetry Artist Grants The Barbara Deming Memorial Fund is currently accepting applications. Grants of $500 to $1,500 each are given twice yearly to feminist writers who are citizens of the United States or Canada.  Learn more.

Filmmakers Applications are now being accepted for the Sundance Short Film Challenge. Submit short films that explore empowering individuals and communities who are overcoming poverty and hunger, combating disease, or improving health. Five winning short films will premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and those five winning filmmakers will each receive a $10,000 prize and an all-expenses paid trip to attend the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Mid-Career and Emerging Poets Claremont Graduate University sponsors two awards for poets: the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. The $100,000 Kingsley Tufts Award is given annually to honor a poetry collection by a midcareer U.S. poet; the winner will also spend a week at Claremont Graduate University in California giving readings, lectures, and workshops. The $10,000 Kate Tufts Discovery Award is given annually to honor a first book of poetry by “a poet of genuine promise.” Learn more.

Emerging Artist Fellowship The Harpo Foundation is currently accepting applications for their 2014 Emerging Artist Fellowship. Provides an annual opportunity to an emerging visual artist who is at least 25 years old and who needs time and space to explore ideas and start new projects. Artist fellows will receive a one-month residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute, which includes a room with private bath, studio space, and a $500 travel stipend. Learn more.

Photographers The Open Society Documentary Photography Project is soliciting calls for the 2014 Audience Engagement Grant Program. Beginning this year, the project will offer two tracks of support for individuals at different phases of their Audience Engagement projects: project development and project implementation. Call for Art The Entries are now being accepted for the exhibition Magic Without Tricks, a the Nave Annex, in Somerville on August 27-September 20, 2014. The show’s curator is Arlinda Shtuni. Learn more.

Artist Grants Assests for Artists has two grants available; one for artists already living or working in North Adams, and one for artists who are interested in re-locating to North Adams. The program offers matched savings grants of up to $4,000 for artists relocating to North Adams and up to $2,000 in matched savings for current artist-residents. Micro-grants for moving, retirement savings, and year-long memberships to MASS MoCA and the Clark are also provided to support North Adams Project award recipients. Learn more.

Craft Artists Artist Application Now Open for CraftBoston 2015. CraftBoston welcomes exhibitor applications from both established and emerging artists making original work that shows exemplary execution of design, quality craftsmanship, creative use of materials, and superb aesthetic qualities.
