Earlier this month, Mass Cultural Council celebrated the 2017 awardees from our Artist Fellowships Program at the Massachusetts State House. One of the event highlights was a speech by Massachusetts Senate President Stan Rosenberg. Many of the artists in attendance were surprised to learn about Senator Rosenberg’s own history in the arts: he has a B.A. in Community Development & Arts Management from UMass Amherst.
In the brief video, Senator Rosenberg acknowledges the artists’ accomplishments and their critical importance to our society. (And by the way, when he mentions not knowing the artists’ names, he’s referring to the fellowships being anonymously judged, something Mass Cultural Council director Anita Walker mentioned shortly before this video starts.)
